Sweetness & Light, Now We Are Six (Yrs Old)

Today, August 15, 2011, marks Sweetness & Light’s sixth anniversary.

Where does the time go?

As has become a tradition, we would like to thank Ann Coulter, Lucianne Goldberg, Thomas Lifson, Mark Levin and Rush Limbaugh, for helping us to spread Sweetness & Light over the years.

But most of all we would like to thank you, gentle reader. And we are especially grateful to everyone who takes the time to post a comment or send in a news tip, or post an item in ‘Selected News.’

Thank you all very much. And happy birthday to us all!

Congratulations to six great years, Steve! Here’s to many, many more!

  2. proreason says:

That’s like 42 internet years. Congrats Steve.

You still manage to find more outrageous stuff than the mega sites, and you are wittier too.

  3. River0 says:

Great job! I remember when you started. How different those times were. It’s your integrity that sustains you. Congratulations!

  4. BigOil says:

Really appreciate the work you do on your site. You have created a haven for free thinking conservatives that do not fall for the latest conventional wisdom and media bias. An island of sanity in an increasingly upside down world. Thanks again

Congratulations Steve….I remember when you were the nefarious “DB”….and Cindy “the Snag” Sheehan was the topic of many a jab! Deservedly so….because you are in the sixth year of your success….and she is sniffing bus fumes while protesting the “illegal war” in Iraq and demanding Bush leave office. I am proud to be one of the first posters on here, and even though I don’t get on much anymore due to career obligations, I am happy you and all who post here are still alive and well. DW! Wirenut! Zilla! Ye be missed laddies! And so many more who have contributed to the cutting wit and humor, and the spot on criticism of what this country has descended into…all of you….here’s to another year! Decade! Century even!

      I’m still lurking around.

      Congratulations DB, er, Steve!

    • DW says:

SJ, I’d be willing to bet that most of us “old timers” are still lurking in the weeds. I too am rather proud to have been one of the earliest posters here -back in the good old days of Katrina, the Veterans For Peace scams (mostly outed here), Malik Raham, our old friend Gordon Soderberg (LOL), the “anarchist medic”, Andrea (I don’t have any proof yet but I just know that Bush blew up the levees) Gardlund and the rest of the zany cast and crew.

Steve – congratulations and thank you for all of this. As I’ve said before: should we meet some fine day, the first and last rounds and every round in between will be on me. You wouldn’t be the first S&L’er I’ve had the honour and pleasure of hoisting a few with -thanks to this site.

Now – and I hate to ask this- you see, I know what a raconteur is, but would you puh-leeeeeze tell me what a boulevardier and a preux chevalier are???!

Anyways, good on ya and well done Sir!

Steve – while these are the Times that try men’s souls, you have soldiered on with Bills, Fees and Expenses the rest of us know nothing about to continue to provide us, your loyal readers, a forum where we may express our concerns, angst, fears, anger and Ideas for solving the critical crisis of the day.

Plus, you rarely step in and tell me to STFU. It’s far far more than I could do and makes you the Adult in this Opinion-Playroom.

God Bless You, sir. My family’s prayers really do include you and yours for the risk you take being so public in an Age where Retribution and Payback have taken on Bolshevik qualities.

Really, thank you, sir. You are a Gentleman

Congratulations Steve – Thanks for making my favorite site available.

Happy anniversary, Steve, and here’s to many, many more!

We the gentle reader (well, not so gentle really) salute you. Thanks, congratulations, and best wishes.

  10. Airmail56 says:

Big Congrats Steve! That is a fine collection of praise you have here. Keep up the good fight.

  11. Chase says:

I was sitting in Iraq in early 2006 and found a link to some crazy S. African-based imam giving out advice or answering questions on Muslim practice, and from there stumbled onto some outrageous quote linked to Sweetness and Light – at first I was holding my sides and trying to stifle the deep-seated laughter from reading of Tater Sticks and clever hilarious fates wished upon and the righteous indignation re: Sheehan and the military veteran poseurs.

I have also held my head at the gross failures and outlandish and unsupportable political machinations of individuals and institutions alike, few of which I would have read about in normal circumstances, and fewer which I would have understood the meaning and ramifications thereof had it not been for Steve leading, and for Petronius, Proreason, Rusty Shackleford, et al., providing insight and understanding. I am not clever or fast-thinking enough to see the political ends to the means exposed here, and find politics dirty and nasty, so could not ever play the game with any hope of success myself, but I see the impact and importance of understanding what is really going on, and I get all of that right here.

    Cheers! And many more!

ADMIT IT! You guys are backed by the Outer-Mongolian TEA PARTY!

  14. TerryAnne says:

    Happy Birfday, S&L!

I, too, lurked for a long time (almost around the time of S&Ls “birth”) before actually joining in the fun. After too many laughs and several rounds of banging my head on the wall, I had to join the fun. ;)

Keep up the good work, Steve! Here’s to plenty more 6 years!

  15. Howard Roark says:

Congratulations, Steve, for another year of hard work and dedication. My footprint here isn’t as deep as a lot of others, but I feel a kinship with everyone nonetheless. I started paying attention to S&L after seeing The Chairman on Hannity (or some other talk show), as she plugged your side project, “Get Drunk And Vote For McCain”, where I was John Galt.

Your sites have provided a lot of laughs and chances for me to vent and learn. Thank-you again.

    DB, .007, Steve,
    Greetings and Salutaions my freind!
We, who do battle everyday against the Godless hoards of mediocrity salute….”YOU”. Heartfelt Thank’s for being the Spear, Sword and Sheild of truth, honor and integrity. Words mean things “here” and it’s the candy everybody wants.

  17. wirenut says:

SJ, you and “First” lead the way to my being “here”,as well as others, I’m quite sure. As long as we have blowhards in office,we’ll have plenty of fodder for cannon. Good to hear from some of the “old codgers”. That means you DW…ZILLA. HAW-haw. Wheelchair races and oxygen snorting starts at 10:30 am sharp! B.Y.O.N., = Bring your own nurse. Haw! Seeyabye!
