Afghan Taliban say they pose no threat to the West

By Sayed Salahuddin Wed Oct 7

KABUL (Reuters) – The Afghan Taliban pose no threat to the West but will continue their fight against occupying foreign forces, they said on Wednesday, the eighth anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion that removed them from power.

U.S.-led forces with the help of Afghan groups overthrew the Taliban government during a five week battle which started on October 7, 2001, after the militants refused to hand over al Qaeda leaders wanted by Washington for the September 11 attacks on America.

"We had and have no plan of harming countries of the world, including those in Europe … our goal is the independence of the country and the building of an Islamic state," the Taliban said in a statement on the group’s website www.shahamat.org.

"Still, if you (NATO and U.S. troops) want to colonize the country of proud and pious Afghans under the baseless pretext of a war on terror, then you should know that our patience will only increase and that we are ready for a long war."

In the statement, the Taliban said the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan for its refusal to hand over al Qaeda leaders, was hasty and unjustified. Washington had not given leaders of the movement any proof to show the involvement of al Qaeda in the September 11 attacks, it said.

Washington was using the so-called war on terror in Afghanistan and in Iraq as part of its expansionist goals in the Middle East, central and southeast Asia, it said.

It recalled the defeat of British forces in the 19th century and the fate of the former Soviet Union in the 1980s in Afghanistan as a lesson to those nations who have troops in the country.

Qari Mohammad Yousuf, a spokesman for the Taliban, said the withdrawal of foreign troops was the only solution to a conflict that has grown in intensity and has pushed some European nations to refuse to send their soldiers into battle zones or to speak about a timetable to withdraw from the country.

Some 1,500 foreign troops have also died in Afghanistan since the Taliban’s ouster causing many nations to question the presence of its soldiers in the country and whether stability can ever be achieved eight years after the overthrow of the militants.

Well, if the Taliban promises to leave us alone, then we guess that’s all right then.

Or, rather, it will be enough to satisfy Mr. Obama and the Democrats, and of course our courageous allies in the “so-called war on terror.”

Was this statement written by one of Mr. Obama’s czars?

By the way, according to IP Geolocator the Taliban’s website, www.shahamat.org, is hosted out of Houston, Texas.

What a way to fight a war.

Did the Taliban and Obamy go to the same schools?

Uh …..is this before or after the taliban toss acid in the faces of little school girls?

You know there’s a problem with the “truthers” and the Taliban think virtually the same thing about our country.

“www.shahamat.org, is hosted out of Houston, Texas.”

What have we come to? Imagine if after Pearl Harbor, the Japanese war machine rented out a building in Honolulu to deny the attack.

Can our country stand united when so many of the population has been indoctrinated to support our enemies?

“Washington had not given leaders of the movement any proof to show the involvement of al Qaeda in the September 11 attacks, it said. ”

      Yes….Yes….Where is this Proof???

What is this insidious attempt by Beck and you to link the ‘truthers’ with terrorism?
On what grounds to you steak your ignorance?

    • Liberals Demise says:

Here is the Windex and a clean rag, qbit! Clean your screen and read the beautyofreason statement again.
What it says is that the ‘truthers’ and the ‘taliban’ virtually “THINK” the same thing about our country.

Where is the proof of the ‘truthers’?
Where is the proof the taliban is no threat to the West?

I’ll bet the boots on the ground (Marines and Army) have all the proof you need. If you will listen! (though I doubt it)

    • proreason says:

      “Where is this Proof”

It came out of Sheikh Khalid’s mouth as the water ran out of his nose.

But the more interesting observation is that the world contains sentient creatures who believe what qbit believes.

And steak isn’t the same thing as stake either.

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

Ground steak makes great burgers. Steak on the ground is for the dog.

On the other hand, qbit, I figure Charlie Sheen is right. Bush had it all wrapped up to have some guys bomb the WTC. That works as a much better theory than anything these nutso conservatives can come up with. Don’t you think?

Or, more accurately: Do you ever think?

    • beautyofreason says:

“On what grounds to you steak your ignorance?”

Well I like my t-bones with A-1, qbit, but I think you meant stake. I suppose you need to remedy your ignorance in multiple ways.

Radical Islam attacked the United States on September the 11th. Denial of this attack or attribution to Bush is common among both Islamic proponents and anti-Western liberal elites. Both THINK the same way about the United States: that we are an immoral imperialist hegemony bent on taking over the Middle East and that we bombed our own city in order to bolster conflict. Some Islamic groups often know better but want to white wash radical Islam. Some “truthers” are merely conspiracy theorists who jump on the bandwagon. Regardless of the source, these views are hostile to our country – and not based on facts.

Just as Holocaust denial is disrespectful to Jewish survivors (neo-Nazi conspiracies often fudge the death toll or attribute deaths to mere illness, thus reducing blame on the “final solution”), denying the historical fact that Osama Bin Laden and other Islamists attacked the United States is disrespectful to the victims at that atrocity.

I call you out as ignorant, shameless, and dishonest. Please find a less harmful conspiracy theory to trumpet, like crop circles or alien abductions. At least those spurious claims do not come at the expense of our people.

By the way, a few liberals in Britain have created a new “truther” movement, claiming that the 7/7 terrorist bombings of the London subway – which murdered 53 – was an inside job. All this despite video footage of the suicide bombers…

I see, it was all a big misunderstanding. Obama is on his way to apologize as we speak.

  5. canary says:

They picked up on the Obama’s saying there are no Taliban left, and the misleading headlines and Associated Press believing the myth, and are going with it. This breed of animals will continue to destroy and grow.
    It’s all they do.
Hhhmmm. Isn’t it amazing the scientists that push evolution haven’t studied the terrorists genes more to see if maybe they came from a breed of monkey’s with insane predator brains.

  6. proreason says:

    Obamy probably admires the Taliban.

They don’t have to mess with elections and “mobs” who disaree with their policies.

And they have the iron grip that any group of community organizers needs to bring hope and change to the peasants.

  7. Reality Bytes says:

The New World Order As RB Sees It:

    1. America withers to insignificance due to the liberalization from the elite ruling class
    2. Islamofacists fill the vacuum & assume majority control through propagation, mass murder & the silent support from Russia & China
    3. With America gone & Western Europe dominated again by Muslim Rule….Chinia & Russia move in and slaughter every Muslim they can find.

    Check & Mate.

    Sobering huh?

    • proreason says:

      It’s already happening.

But I don’t think Russia is much of a player. Russia has too many problems and hasn’t developed a workable post-Communism system. Russia cannot overcome a 10 to 1 population discrepancy.

China is in the catbird seat. All China really has to do is bide time. The dirty work is being done for the Chinese by Islam and the idiots in Europe and Obamyland.

The reason China will emerge is that they aren’t stupid enough to tie 2 hands, 2 feet, and 9 fingers behind their backs in the battle with Islam.

Some more news from Afghanistan from today about these innocent little darlings, via the AFP:

US, Afghan troops seize tonnes of opium, kill 17 Taliban

KABUL (AFP) – US and Afghan forces seized 50 tonnes of opium and killed 17 Taliban insurgents on Wednesday, the defence ministry said, as US President Barack Obama mulled his options for the increasingly war-torn country.

The drug haul and militant deaths came in joint action between American and Afghan troops in the troubled south of the country, and also saw 1.8 tonnes of heroin seized, along with several Taliban.

It was one of the largest drug seizures in recent memory, worth five million dollars, Mohammad Zahir Azimi, a defence ministry spokesman, told AFP.

In the five-hour operation that began at 11:00 am (0630 GMT), the soldiers dropped from helicopters into the Kajaki district of Helmand province, source of most of the world’s heroin, the spokesman said.

“We seized and destroyed 30 tonnes of fertiliser, 1,000 boxes of AK-47 and TK machinegun bullets and other weapons,” he said, adding that a factory for making remote-controlled bombs was also destroyed.

“Seventeen Taliban were killed, three were arrested alive,” he said.

“The joint forces also destroyed a heroin-making factory,” he said, adding that the joint forces suffered no casualties.

He said the fertiliser was of a type used to manufacture improvised explosive devices (IEDs), the main weapon in the Taliban arsenal and the cause of a large proportion of deaths among forces under US and NATO command…

    Well, there goes the GDP.

  10. canary says:

I’m proud of our troops. I saw recent filmage our troops packaging bales of the stuff, and loading on trucks, so I guess Obama will decide what to do with. It will be worth alot more money than 5 million in America.

Or, nice to know the “truthers” are working with the Taliban now.
