Indeed.

Everyday I gain more sympathy for Ann Coulter and her statement, "How to talk to a liberal, if you must".

It's beyond frustrating when you ultimately get down to ideological differences. They talk on a plain of utopian hope where I try to give examples of how it is a blatant failure at every attempt. They then respond, "Well, if people would just realize that they have to really WANT to do it". And invariably I give up. There is no hope.

If you put people in a group...randomly selected...say...a cruise ship sinks and the lifeboats are full of a mix of people. Seven of those boats end up on an island with a mix of flora and fauna...a la "Lord Of The Flies" if you will. And if they're there for any length of time, there are those who will survive and those who won't. How quickly the arguments of "climate change" and "fairness" will fall aside when they get hungry and cold.

Those arguments are LUXURIES based on the fact that we have so much. But if you ignore the basic needs of survival in order to attempt a higher "plain of existence" then, you are standing there with your rear flap open.

Liberals seldom understand this. Especially when they stand there, as does Pelosi, and shake their fist at the (imagined) enemy (capitalists) and then take out their wallet to buy their new Mercedes. Or worse, get in their (publicly-funded) limo to go to the airport to get on their (publicly-funded) 757, or G-V<i>flying</i> limo to fly to their luxurious mountaintop home overlooking San Francisco Bay.

I doubt that Pelosi would last 15 minutes in a desert island survival scenario. She would be bossing people to get her food and water and they would turn their backs and trek off to find it for themselves or, even better, take their rudimentary implements of survival and do away with her. Such is the real meaning of "civilization".

Rusty, my guess is they didn't serve bean sprouts and arugula salad. David will fall back into the Times goose step after a few Double mocha chocolate lattes' and bagels.

"Only after a gun is put to his head does he have a revelation."

I have a "revelation" every morning. But it's more of a voluntary thing and I don't have to change my clothes afterwards.

Another example of the incredible naivete of liberals. A normal person would witness the widely circulated video of the Taliban shooting a woman in the head - right in the middle of a packed soccer stadium - and characterize the Taliban as extremists.

This NYT clown is in their midst for 7 years and could not see what is right in front of his face. Only after a gun is put to his head does he have a revelation.

"A New York Times reporter...said late Saturday he had underestimated Taliban’s extremism..."

Ouch - like a liberal who gets mugged and develops a less than anthropological perspective on thugs. Well, better late than never.

Biden was wrong. There are no moderate Taliban - not when they blew up a 700-year-old Buddha sculpture spanning a mountain top and not when they protected Osama Bin Laden from capture.

To see what the Taliban has wrought, think of it this way - as recently as the 1970s, Afghanistan had universities, an emerging skilled class, and a few daring women walked outside in skirts to the knee without threat or harassment. Even these small factors made the middle part of the 20th century the so-called "golden age" for Afghanistan. Look at the hellhole they have become since then.

<b>"They wanted to create a fundamentalist Islamic emirate with Al-Qaeda that spanned the Muslim world," the writer noted…</b>

This is the moment, when in class, one of my students would say something like this, I reply, "Did you just get here?"

Honestly, there is no more teachable a moment than when the child finds something out for themselves. The light-bulb moment, the clue-bird has landed.

But the ridiculous nature of it of course, indicates that this "journalist" is a confirmed Bush-hater and believed (no doubt) that it was he who plotted to bring the towers down, that Vietnam was all Nixon's fault and that nobody ever really landed and walked around on the Moon. Additionally, they believe that crop circles were made by aliens, that ghosts, spirits and reincarnation are real and their bookshelves are filled with over-the-top fiction works on mythology, talking to people in the afterlife and rock worship.

These are people I avoid (unless I want to mess with them)

Funny how the real world tends to have an impact on "journalists".

That's why they are carefully isolated from everybody but their like-minded brethren and the politicians who herd them.

If the people were ever able to read the truth, they might become something even worse than a "radical Taliban"....they might become conservative.
