Tax Hypocrite Nadler Calls GOP Gangsters

From The Hill:

Nadler: Obama gave in to ‘a bunch of gangsters’ in tax deal with GOP

By Vicki Needham – 12/12/10

Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) called Republicans "a bunch of gangsters" who blackmailed Democrats to ensure that the nation’s wealthiest retain their tax cuts.

Nadler, appearing Sunday morning on CBS’ "Face the Nation," characterized the Republican stance on the bipartisan compromise on extending the Bush-era tax cuts of "nice middle class tax cut you have there, pity if something would happen to it unless you give millionaires and billionaries [sic]" a tax cut. "Unless you give the wealthier a tax cut we’re not permitting the middle class to get it."

Nadler expressed concern that Republicans will continue pressing Congress and President Obama for a permanent extension of those tax cuts and if we "succumb to blackmail" now why should there be any expectation that they will have the "political gumption in 2012 to not submit again."

"The president probably should’ve stood a little stronger and not gone along with the Republican blackmail attempt," Nadler said. "He thinks we can fix this in two years; I’m more skeptical of that."

He called the push for the tax cut extension part of a "30-year Republican plan to "starve the beast" so there are reasons to cut housing, Social Security, education and other funding

Certainly one could see how any suggestion of ‘starving the beast’ would hit Mr. Nadler particularly hard.

Nadler [considers] the bill is a bad compromise "because it sacrifices the wealth of the country long term."

"The more immediate problem is creating more jobs and now can’t do that while considering permanent tax cuts, the estate tax and jeopardizing Social Security down the road."

Mr. Nadler is not only an economic ignoramus and Marxist class warrior, he is also a gigantic hypocrite. For lest we forget, as we have previously noted, Mr. Nadler is currently trying to get a tax break for ‘the rich’ in his district.

Of course we have only heard about this artful tactic from the opinion pages of the Wall Street Journal, from back in April:

The Blue State Blues

Taxing the rich, except in my district.

August 4, 2010

One irony of the tax increase that arrives on January 1 is that the it will hit residents of high-income, Democratic-leaning states like California, Connecticut, New Jersey and New York the hardest. This is a problem for pro-tax Democrats.

Enter New York Representative Jerrold Nadler, who wants to exempt his own six-figure constituents from the tax hike he supports.

Mr. Nadler represents New York City’s 8th Congressional District, which includes parts of Manhattan’s Upper West Side, Chelsea, SoHo, Greenwich Village, TriBeCa, and the Financial District.

Mr. Nadler’s bill would "require the IRS to adjust tax brackets proportionally in regions where the average cost of living is higher than the national average."

In other words, the various tax brackets would apply to residents in certain regions at higher income levels versus other parts of the country. A family with an income of $50,000 or even $1 million in Manhattan would pay less federal income tax than a family with the same earnings in Omaha. The bill is called the Tax Equity Act, but a more accurate title would be the Blue State Tax Preference Act.

"The basic costs of life in the New York region are much steeper than in most parts the country," says Mr. Nadler. "The reality is that a dollar in New York isn’t worth nearly as much as a dollar in Spokane or Knoxville or Topeka. It’s time for our tax code to take reality into account when assessing someone’s tax liability."

That point about "reality" and the tax code could certainly use some fleshing out, but leave that aside. A big reason the cost of living is so high in Boston, Manhattan and San Francisco is because of high state and local taxes, union work rules, and heavy business regulation that make it more expensive to produce, sell and buy things.

Why should someone in Spokane or Knoxville or Topeka be penalized because New York and California impose destructive policies? Mr. Nadler also conveniently forgets that the federal tax code already subsidizes high-cost states through the deductibility of state and local income and property taxes.

An all-star line-up of liberal class warriors has nonetheless endorsed Mr. Nadler’s effort to raise taxes on the rich everywhere but in their own districts. New York House Members Tim Bishop, Steve Israel, Nita Lowey, Carolyn Maloney and Carolyn McCarthy are cosponsors. Ms. Lowey, who has voted to tax anything that moves, now says that "When it comes to the tax code, one size just doesn’t fit all" and laments that New York has "some of the highest property taxes in the country." But whose fault is that?

So welcome to the brave new world of "tax equity." If you live in a state that voted for Barack Obama, you get a tax cut.

So it would seem that Mr. Nadler is one of the biggest gangsters around. He wants the middle class folks in Topeka to subsidize his big spending millionaire pals in New York City.

But how is it none of the so-called ‘journalists’ at Face The Nation or The Hill brought this up? Are they really just the lickspittle minions of the Democrat Party or are they really and truly incompetent?

100% agreement, Pro. When I started to analyze the Soviet Communist Party elite as a mafia and not as a political ideology, their actions made sense. A giant gang surrounding themselves with a cadre of loyalists not in on the joke, surrounded by millions of wannabes and sycophants surrounded by a nation held hostage … with layers and layers of subordinate nations and their citizens between this core criminal class and the marauding armies of retribution NATO might field some day.

The core Politburo was nothing more than the Mexican cartels, or Democrats or Crips. But I repeat myself.

They are the truly incompetent lickspittle minions of the Democrat Party.

Where is it that they grow idiots such as this so we can get the EPA to declare that region a ‘Disaster Area’ and funk zone.
