Terrorists Murder 108 In Iraq, Rain Kills 70 In China

From the Agence France-Presse:

At least 91 killed in Iraq’s deadliest day since 2010

By Salam Faraj and Ammar Karim | July 23, 2012

A wave attacks in Baghdad and north of the capital killed 91 people in Iraq’s deadliest day in more than two years after Al-Qaeda warned it would mount new attacks and sought to retake territory.

Officials said at least 172 people were wounded as a result of 21 different attacks mounted in 13 cities, shattering a relative calm which held in the lead-up to the start on Saturday of the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

In Monday’s deadliest attack, a string of roadside bombs and a car bomb, followed by a suicide attack targeting emergency responders, in the town of Taji killed at least 42 people and wounded 40 others….

In Baghdad, meanwhile, a car bomb in the Shiite bastion of Sadr City at 9:30 am (0630 GMT) killed at least 12 people and wounded 22 others….

The attacks came a day after a spate of bombings across Iraq killed at least 17 people and wounded nearly 100 others. Monday’s toll was the highest since May 10, 2010, when 110 people were killed.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, but Al-Qaeda’s front group in Iraq has warned in recent days that it seeks to retake territory in the country.

The Islamic State of Iraq warned in an audio message posted on various jihadist forums that it would begin targeting judges and prosecutors, and appealed for the help of Sunni tribes in its quest to recapture territory it once held.

"We are starting a new stage," said the voice on the message, purportedly that of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who has been leader of the Islamic State of Iraq since May 2010.

"The first priority in this is releasing Muslim prisoners everywhere, and chasing and eliminating judges and investigators and their guards." …

Baghdadi added: "On the occasion of the beginning of the return of the state to the areas that we left, I urge you to carry out more efforts, and send your sons with the mujahedeen to defend your religion and obey God." …

More than 108 people have been killed by terrorists in Iraq in the last two days. And all of these Muslims are being killed by other Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan.

But our news media won’t give it much attention because it doesn’t help Obama’s re-election or advance their agenda.

Meanwhile, from the Associated Press:

Beijing rains kill 37, raise infrastructure debate

By ALEXA OLESEN | July 23, 2012

BEIJING (AP) — As China’s flood-ravaged capital dealt with the aftermath of the heaviest rain in six decades Monday, including the deaths of 37 people, questions were being raised about whether the city’s push for modernization came at the expense of basic infrastructure such as drainage networks.

Rescuers were still searching buildings that collapsed during Saturday night’s torrential downpour and some roads that were covered in waist-deep water remained closed. The city government said as of Sunday night, 25 people had drowned, 6 were killed when houses collapsed, one was hit by lightning and five were electrocuted by fallen power lines….

The city has seen tens of billions of dollars poured into its modernization, adding iconic venues for the 2008 Olympics, the world’s second-largest airport, new subway lines and dazzling skyscrapers — all while basics like water drainage were apparently neglected

Heavy rain also proved deadly elsewhere in the country. 15 people were killed and 19 others remained missing in disasters linked to the rainstorms in Hebei province next to Beijing, Xinhua said, citing the provincial civil affairs bureau. 6 people were killed by landslides in Sichuan province in the west and 4 people died in Shanxi province in the north when their truck was swept away by a rain-swollen river. At least 8 people died and 17 were missing due to storms in neighboring Shaanxi province, and in Yunnan province in the south, 6 people were killed and 2 were missing

In other words, a total of 70 died in China because of rain. You would think our news media would highlight this, since they could try to blame it on global warming.

But, since the problem is it is really due to China’s new infrastructure, which the Obama administration has touted as a model for years, we won’t hear too much about this flooding, either. After all, what is so newsworthy about people dying when it rains hard in a supposedly model modern city like Beijing?

Once again, if it doesn’t help the news media’s agenda it doesn’t really matter.

The proletariat can’t see drainage and sewers…they are underground and unpleasant. But you can boast about skyscrapers and airports, even if the taxiways and runways are all flooded over, rendering them unusable (see: Mexico City).

It never ceases to amaze me what socialists think is important. Even the ancient Romans knew that drainage was critical. The underground drainage system they devised still works, thousands of years later. It keeps the center of Rome from returning to swampland. Evidently this basic common-sense item missed the pervue of the all-knowing, all-seeing government lackeys…er…..officials.

Mooselimb on Mooselimb violence, who’d a thunk it? Is this part of their jihad or just two different gangs fighting over their turf in the hood?

The welfare of the people has never been a concern of the socialists, communists, leftist retards. I’m sure from up in his ivory tower the Ohole has as much concern for the average citizen as the ruling clique in Beijing has only he has to try and hide his disdain for all of us at least until he gets re-elected then the gloves will come off. Once he becomes president for life such trivialities as acting like anyone but him has any relevance will cease.

He is a cancer we need to remove this fall or his sickness will infect the entire nation.
