Michelle Obama’s Extravagant Wardrobe

From YouTube:

Yes We Can Can: The Amazing, Outrageous, Extravagant Wardrobe Of Michelle Obama

Obviously, we don’t usually indulge is fashion criticism. Nor do we begrudge anyone decking themselves out using their own money.

But Mrs. Obama’s wardrobe does seem to be rather extravagant – to put it mildly. Especially for the wife of a community organizer.

Remember the grief that Nancy Reagan got for allowing designers to loan her clothing that she later returned to them or donated to museums?

But that was then and this is now.

The Obama’s are going to “milk” the taxpayers for everything they can get for the 4 years he is in office. Enjoy it while it lasts Mr. Pathetic because your time is running out and then you can take all your left wing loons back to Chicago and start “community orgainizing” all over again!

  2. Tater Salad says:

Michell Obama is high maintenance to the taxpayers of the U.S.:

“In my own life, in my own small way, I have tried to give back to this country that has given me so much,” she said. “See, that’s why I left a job at a big law firm for a career in public service, “… Michelle Obama

No, Michele Obama does not get paid to serve as the First Lady and she doesn’t perform any official duties. But this hasn’t deterred her from hiring an unprecedented number of staffers to cater to her every whim and to satisfy her every request in the midst of the Great Recession.

Just think, Mary Lincoln was taken to task for purchasing china for the White House during the Civil War. And Mamie Eisenhower had to shell out the salary for her personal secretary from her husband’s salary.

Total Personal Staff members for other first ladies paid by taxpayers:

Mamie Eisenhower: 1 paid for personally out of President’s salary

    Jackie Kennedy: 1

    Roseline Carter: 1

    Barbara Bush: 1

    Hilary Clinton: 3

    Laura Bush: 1

    Michele Obama: 22

How things have changed! If you’re one of the tens of millions of Americans facing certain destitution, earning less than subsistence wages stocking the shelves at Wal-Mart or serving up McDonald cheeseburgers, prepare to scream and then come to realize that the benefit package for these servants of Ms Michelle are the same as members of the national security and defense departments and the bill for these assorted lackeys is paid by YOU, John Q. Public:

    Michele Obama’s personal staff:
    1. $172,200 – Sher, Susan (Chief Of Staff)
    2. $140,000 – Frye, Jocelyn C. (Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Policy And Projects For The FirstLady)
    3. $113,000 – Rogers, Desiree G. (Special Assistant to the President and White House Social Secretary for Mrs. Obama)
    4. $102,000 – Johnston, Camille Y. (Special Assistant to the President and Director of Communications for the FirstLady)
    5. $100,000 – Winter, Melissa E. (Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Chief Of Staff to the First Lady)
    6. $90,000 – Medina, David S. (Deputy Chief Of Staff to the First Lady)
    7. $84,000 – Lelyveld, Catherine M. (Director and Press Secretary to the First Lady)
    8. $75,000 – Starkey, Frances M. (Director of Scheduling and Advance for the First Lady)
    9. $70,000 – Sanders, Trooper (Deputy Director of Policy and Projects for the First Lady)
    10. $65,000 – Burnough, Erinn J. (Deputy Director and Deputy Social Secretary)
    11. $64,000 – Reinstein, Joseph B. (Deputy Director and Deputy Social Secretary)
    12. $62,000 – Goodman, Jennifer R. (Deputy Director of Scheduling and Events Coordinator For The First Lady)
    13. $60,000 – Fitts, Alan O. (Deputy Director of Advance and Trip Director for the First Lady)
    14. $57,500 – Lewis, Dana M. (Special Assistant and Personal Aide to the First Lady)
    15. $52,500 – Mustaphi, Semonti M. (Associate Director and Deputy Press Secretary To The First Lady)
    16. $50,000 – Jarvis, Kristen E. (Special Assistant for Scheduling and Traveling Aide To The First Lady)
    17. $45,000 – Lechtenberg, Tyler A. (Associate Director of Correspondence For The First Lady)
    18. $43,000 – Tubman, Samantha (Deputy Associate Director, Social Office)
    19. $40,000 – Boswell, Joseph J. (Executive Assistant to the Chief Of Staff to the First Lady)
    20. $36,000 – Armbruster, Sally M. (Staff Assistant to the Social Secretary)
    21. $35,000 – Bookey, Natalie (Staff Assistant)
    22. $35,000 – Jackson, Deilia A. (Deputy Associate Director of Correspondence for the First Lady)
(total = $1,591,200 in annual salaries)

There has NEVER been anyone in the White House at any time who has created such an army of staffers whose sole duties are the facilitation of the First Lady’s social life. One wonders why she needs so much help, at taxpayer expense.

Note: This does not include makeup artist Ingrid Grimes-Miles, 49, and “First Hairstylist” Johnny Wright, 31, both of whom traveled aboard Air Force One to Europe…

Yes, I know, The Canadian Free Press had to publish this perhaps because America no longer has a free press and the USA media is too scared that they might be considered racist or suffer at the hands of Obama.

    Sorry America!

How can a lady who doesn’t do sh*t but run her yap and pose for the cameras need that many maids?

    • jobeth says:

What? They missed grandma? She does all the babysitting for the girls…Can’t tell me we aren’t paying for that too.

  3. VMAN says:

Ghetto Riche for lack of a better less politically correct term.

  4. proreason says:

2 minutes of clothes at 2 outfits a second. 240 outfits.

Unlikely they found all of the outfits.

Perhaps the ladies can help with what an outfit might cost. With accessories, I’d guess about 3 grand an outfit. Could be much more of course.

So, probably a minimum of about 1/2 to 1 million in clothes for the first 11 months. (not counting the little princesses, of course.)

But we love our Overlords to be well-dressed, don’t we? Average Americans really want a royal family, don’t we? It makes watching our carrots simmering in the stew so much more pleasant.

Even if they look like a linebacker and a bathhouse attendant.

“There has NEVER been anyone in the White House at any time who has created such an army of staffers whose sole duties are the facilitation of the First Lady’s social life. One wonders why she needs so much help, at taxpayer expense.”

Awww come on…This clod needs all the help she can get! Just look at that inauguration outfit! Not to mention mannerisms.

    Perfectly sensible. (VERY sarc)

PS…while she is at it….Pullleeeezeee hire someone to teach her and the girls how to walk! That line backer strut is NOT attractive.

  6. pianogirl88 says:

One of her staff people was asked some time ago if the FLOTUS had a stylist who worked with her. The answer? “No, she doesn’t think she needs one.” Trust me, Michelle, you do! I’d say about 10% of what I saw (and the pictures went by fast…the percentage could be less than that) actually looked good on her, or was even appropriate clothing for the occasion.

    • JohnMG says:

…..”and the pictures went by fast…”

They didn’t go by fast enough for my taste. Bleccccccchchhchh!!

  7. Chuckk says:

Remember the criticism Palin got for spending $150,000.on a wardrobe during the campaign. Of course, that was when $150,000. really meant something.

    • Tater Salad says:

We have to give the left wing loons some credit here when they used the Palin “clothes purchase” during the campaign sound like the Louisiana Purchase though. I don’t see the left wingnuts saying one damn thing about the First Lady’s “expense account” and being to expensive. Oh, the silent sounds of hyprocrisy by the Democrats!

  8. Nor do we begrudge anyone decking themselves out using their own money.

But Mrs. Obama’s wardrobe does seem to be rather extravagant – to put it mildly. Especially for the wife of a community organizer.

You hit the nail on the head here. What Michelle Obama does, with her money, should be her own business. Except that she – and her husband – come from a distinct class of people who have no qualms about purchasing all the finery their money can buy, while criticizing others who spend their money (mostly wealth businessmen, CEOs, etc.).

Didn’t Obama criticize companies that went to Las Vegas for conventions (thus boosting the economy of Vegas, and creating jobs), while the First Family spends Christmas at a rather expensive beachfront property in Hawaii?

Shouldn’t the Obamas, oh, I don’t know…lead by example? No designer clothes, no private school for Sasha and Malia, no expensive parties. Goodness knows Obama’s working really hard to ensure a majority of Americans can never, ever enjoy such things.

    Why should they?

    • proreason says:

Our regal Obamas were on the verge of bankruptcy (after living beyond their means for more than a decade and maxing out their credit cards) when Mr. Soros bought a million copies of Bill Ayer’s “Dreams of my Father” so that the Moron could be “fiscally responsible”.

Now the Moron wants China to do the same thing for the parts of the country he approves of (i.e., Detroit, South Chicago, Hollywood, Pelican Bay, Watts, Washington DC, and Harvard Yard).

    • jobeth says:

“when Mr. Soros bought a million copies of Bill Ayer’s “Dreams of my Father” “

Pro…That explains a lot. I wondered how that book sold so many copies, but no one I know bought it.

      Now…everyone I know has a copy of Palin’s book.

Maybe it’s the circle of friends I’m running with….or what you said…I think the latter.

    • Steve says:

I wish that this site would not be used to spread unsubstantiated claims.

There is no real evidence anywhere that Ayers had anything to do with Mr. Obama’s first autobiography. The gentleman who has pursued that line of argument has pursued other crackpot conspiracies before. He is an opportunist (to put it mildly).

Anyone who has read either of the author’s books would have to be tone deaf to see how different they are. Furthermore, there would have been no motivation whatsoever for the well-heeled and well known Bill Ayers to have ghost written a book for the unknown Barack Obama.

Additionally, “Dreams From My Father” did not sell at all well when it was first published. It was quickly remaindered and it went out of print.

It was only when Obama ran for the Senate that it went back into print and sales picked up.

There are so many things to go after Mr. Obama about, it is inconceivable to me why people have to make more things up. (His birthplace, his parentage, his authorship, etc.) Unless they want to undermine Obama’s opposition by having us look like rabid fools.

Lest we forget, the ‘birther’ campaign was started and promulgated by Larry Johnson, who is a Democrat hack and America-hater.

Why do their work for them?

    • proreason says:

Yep, that’s when it began selling like hotcakes. Everybody got real interested in a boring, post-modern, plot-less, hate-filled, semi-autobiographical book written by an author who had never written another published word yet has now been acclaimed as a genius. Like many genius authors, he then chose to stop writing altogether until he wrote his pedantic, wonkish second best seller in a totally different voice.

Media Matters was launched in May 2004.

“Dreams of my Father” was republished in August 2004.

“Audacity of Hope”, the supercharged policy statement was published in October 2006. Ordinarilly, a freshman Senator would hardly be able to find time in a busy schedule of legislating, healing, cult-building, media appearances and speech delivering to write a second masterpiece, particularly considering the well-publicized writer’s block that made the first immaculate delivery so painful…..but not so for our boy king. He was able to emaculate the second one with ease while maintaining his busy schedule of pontification.

    • Tater Salad says:

“Dreams of Maybe My Father” would make good bonfire material it would seem.

    • Tater Salad says:

Will Barack Obama, (after completing his 4 year term as President and then sent packing), build his Presidential Library in Chicago, Hawaii or Indodonesia? With that said, will he then put on display his “real” birth certificate for everyone to admire?

    • proreason says:

I would be very surprised if he doesn’t have a Hawaii birth certificate.

If not, his handlers took on enormous risk running him for President, and it’s easy to see that they are seriously risk averse. He doesn’t even run for offices. His thugs arrange his victories….much safer that way.

But I also think there is something embarrassing on that birth certificate. I’ld like to see some complete certificates from that hospital in Hawaii around that timeframe to see the kinds of information that was captured. It might be as simple as mommy and pretend daddy were not married.

  9. katmeredith says:

In all fairness, there’s no way to judge just by looking at them, how much the clothing cost. And 240 outfits in a year (by one commenter’s estimation) is not that amazing. She obviously wore some outfits more than once, some items several times with several outfits. I saw some mixing. The yellow sweater appeared to be a favorite. Quite a few of the dresses did not flatter Mrs. Obama. But aside from that aesthetic criticism, it’s rude and unnecessary to judge her clothing without an actual estimation of cost. She could be wearing Walmart brand for all we know. Unless you’re an expert or check the tags, you probably can’t tell the difference. Surely the staff would make a better article. $1.5 million in personal staff? I didn’t elect her and I don’t see why I’m paying for that.

    • JohnMG says:

…..”She could be wearing Walmart brand for all we know…..”

C’mon, kate. I’me no fashion critic but I am pretty sure I can spot these ‘bling-whores’ when I see them. They are shameless in their rubbing of our noses. Do you really think she EVER shopped at K-Mart? Or Wal-Mart? Or ANY-mart? How patrician!

    • proreason says:

      Yeh, that’s the ticket.

How could we have missed it.

    • BigOil says:

In one of the pictures, she is wearing $540 Lanvin tennis shoes. If she is wearing tennis shoes that are half a grand, it’s doubtful she is buying off the rack at Wal-Mart.

    Don’t cry for me Argentina

    All through my wild days
    My mad existence
    I kept my promise
    Don’t keep your distance

  11. jobeth says:

Extravagant or not…it just occurred to me that we no longer hear all the gushing and fawning about how everyone is trying to copy her dress.

Guess that balloon lost it’s gas pretty quickly. Even the adoring press couldn’t make that dog bark.

  12. Steve says:

Just for the record, has anyone ever seen Michelle Obama without her false eyelashes?

I’m no expert, but I don’t recall any previous First Lady ever wearing them, let alone all the time.

    • jobeth says:

Wonder how much they cost us. Bet they were the “top of the top” of the line. Probably made of sable.
