Seriously, with a two minute explanation of the facts even a Democrat could come up with the observation that if 9/11 had occurred when you were eight years old, why would that mean it’s OK to have Bin Laden in your living room?

Perhaps that’s why at least Sarah’s fired up – she knows Obama will make her life difficult, where McCain will just go back to the Senate and retire on his Senatorial pension without all those pesky meetings that would be required were he President.

BillK – Mrs Artboy made the same point you did. McCain doesn’t act like he WANTS it. The best thing he said was when he misspoke -”Senator Government” – and the rest was the usual Bill Buckner fumbles and passivity. By Allah’s beard, I’d have shredded Obama if I’d been on that stage with him – any of us could – “you say you had few dealings with Mr Ayers, Senator, but I ask why you had any dealings with him at all? I wouldn’t shake that man’s hand, I wouldn’t sit in a room with him, I wouldn’t have anything to do with him at all, nor would most Americans – so why did you? Tell us why, Senator, this man and his actions were not obnoxious to you and why you felt that he was a fit person for you to associate with in any capacity or to any degree?” BANG – election won! But that’s not the McCain way! For him, win/lose makes no real diff. If he loses, hey, so what? He’s still a senator, he’s still a millionnaire, he still owns seven houses and he’s still married to a beer heiress. We’re the ones who will have to live the Obama nightmare, not him.

What struck me was obama’s calculated lack of respect for McCain. He called him senator, then the familiar “John”. I wish McCain would have called him Barry. I had to stop watching after a little while .. obama’s smirking and condescending smarminess was wayyy too much to put up with. He’s definitely learned the “trick” (from his .. or should I say Ayers’ ) book).

I did catch obama answering a question about whether or not Sarah Palin was qualified to be prez. did McCain remind obama that even Biden thought he wasn’t qualified for the job? … twice?!

Feel your pain – why is it that the people I sat with in a bar watching this debate can fire off perfectly common-sensical and “sound bite/slogan worthy” spontaneous responses to these allegedly hairy and complex questions without all the self-doubt, navel-gazing and tendentiousness of a poltical candidate ? Call the man a liar already, John. Defend your running mate without tacitly conceding to your opponent’s smears. The way in which this uber-lightweight junior legislator has put the wood to McCain and Hillary!!! is simply nonsensical. Hil’s campaign seemingly forgot what proportional representation means, and McCain didn’t seem to take the campaign seriously until tonight’s debate. If I’m dreaming, someone wake me up.

When you can’t think for yourself, have never had to follow an argument to it’s logical conclusion, do not have to be responsible for the stupidity of your position, and are completely ignorant of history, economics, and political philosophy, someone needs to feed you talking points. William Ayers and Saul Alinsky should be proud. Timothy Leary would have been a better place to start.

Yeah, but that would require McCain to answer in anything but the most non-partisan manner possible.

If McCain wins in November it will be despite his campaign style, certainly not because of it.

If I was interviewing McCain for a job I’d never call him back because it’s apparent he doesn’t seem to actually want it – sort of like a college kid who signs up for an appointment with a particular company’s recruiter because all of his friends did.

(I’d hire Palin though – she obviously has the enthusiasm and drive required.)

Pity we’ll have to wait until 2012 at the earliest to see an Obama/Palin debate…

When asked about education – he could have killed 3 birds with one stone with this answer:
“Throwing money, like $90M with the Chicago Annenberg Commission, that Sen Obama ran with known terrorist William Ayers – was concluded to be a total failure based on the Annenberg Audit released recently. Instead of concentrating on reading, writing and arithmatic, Sen Obama and Ayers promoted radical ideology over basic education”
