    I miss ProReason

And I’ll bet you he is a Veteran

If so, he and any other Veterans of this happy S&L family have my highest respects and sincere appreciation

Amen, Jack. You’re all in my prayers. God bless America & long live the Tea Party. Keep up the good fight.

Elizabeth Warren DOESN’T ANSWER questions about her “minority” status. Like I have always said, Liberals smell their own sh** for so long, it doesn’t stink to them anymore.

I just wish Republicans would do the same thing. No matter what is asked, just use that time to talk about what YOU want to talk about.
A: Is there a Republican “War on Women?”
B: Ted Kennedy killed his mistress, Clinton abused women, along with the games Gary Hart, Eliot Spitzer, Jessie Jackson, John Edwards played around with, why yes, there is a Democrat war on women….

“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.” — George S. Patton

Thanks be to God. Have a safe Memorial Day, friends.

    • tranquil.night says:

Amen, thank you for that. God bless & same you, Bill.

    • Mithrandir says:

Not foolish to mourn those who suffered in agony, in some forest or desert, knowing that their last breath will come soon, without a chance to do and see the things they love, one last time, perhaps crying out to their mother in pain.

However, it IS foolish to ONLY remember those who died, instead of helping and honoring those who still walk among us. Too many people have a barbeque on this day, perhaps place flowers on veteran’s graves, BUT when a man or woman in uniform walks by, or are ordering food, or applying for a job, NEARLY 100% of the time, people say nothing, do nothing, and help very little.
For those who live that daily SLAP IN THE FACE, I can honestly say, “I’m so sorry.”

Honor our fallen AND the living, by finding courage somewhere in your heart, and DO something out of the ordinary for them, as you will probably be the only stranger in their entire life that did.

Mithrandir, I’m not trying to start a ruckus in the S&L open thread. I was taken aback when I read the quote the first time. The more I thought about it, the better I felt about it. To me, Patton was saying just about the same thing you wrote. We should not mourn only the dead, but be thankful to all those who are brave enough to put on the uniform and defend all that is sacred to our country. For that, we should all be thankful to God as well as the members of the Armed Forces, their families, and friends.

You are also right that we should not restrict our demonstrations of gratitude to those who have passed, rather we should find ways of expressing thanks to Service Members when we see them.

    Must See

God Bless the men and women who gave all that we may live. May we be worthy of their sacrifice. May we never forget.

(except I didn’t let it happen. The 535 members of Congress let it happen despite my screaming at them)

My only, sibling & brother, fought in the 1st Iraq invasion of Kuwait from beginning to end. He expects nothing from anyone, he just wishes people would pay attention to what’s going on around them because that’s what really keeps our republic truly free. When, we as a people become inattentive to what our elected leaders are doing then we have no one to blame but ourselves. They work for US and we have to stop placing these people on pedestals or buying into the notion that they know more than we do!!!.
