Biden has had everything done to him that modern plastic surgery can do - teeth bleached (or maybe veneered - they're mighty even), hair plugs, face lift. He'll have his eyes done next, the face lift stretched them so tight he looks positively Chinese. That forehead ain't movin nowhere - it's stapled in place.

Hey I finally caught more of the debate - I can't watch/listen to Sen Biden at all. What is with his forhead - it did not move at all. I am beginning to think that these losers get botox so that they can't show emotion - thus when they are scamming (I wanted to use a nastier word, but it is Sunday) America - we won't see the glee on their faces.

I also caught on Fox & Friends clips of SNL on the debates - I must say - excepting that one slam on NYTs that they used a slimy incest ref - SNL actually seems to be doing a good job of slamming them all - which I do support - Queen Latifah was good as Ifill hawking her book.

1st - I would love for Gov Palin to debate Sen Obama - and yes I bet he would scream racism before a single word was uttered - his way of 'protesting' and being a good 'activist'. And yes, it would be like the days of FDR - suddenly the msm would be in good, close face shots to avoid looking at the growing wet spot and puddle around the Master of the Universe wanna be.

I would love to see it 1st.

That really is the debate all Americans want to see.

Perhaps in 2012 - when Obama is Hillary's choice for VP.

That would be hilarious 1st. Sarahcuda vs Bambi. Boy howdy, I bet that would bump the viewership up to about 100 million. What a display that would be. ( If only.)

Any chance that Sarahcuda could pinch-debate for McCain in the remaining Pres. debates?

I honestly believe Bambi would wet his pants if she walked out on the stage instead of McCain.

Mr. Purple,

I think she did a good job and I can see what you're saying about the choice of questions. Personally I'm not so sure that it was intentional but I certainly can't prove that it wasn't. I agree with you 100% that Obama did vote for an infanticide bill. There is no other way to describe it. Regarding the matter of abortion, I think that everyone knows where both candidates stand on that matter already so what's the point in asking what they think?

Honestly, I'm not sure how many truly undecided voters there are left out there at this point. We're just about down to the wire and I pretty much believe that whatever is going to happen is going to happen regardless of the debates.

LMGSB, perhaps it was just that Plain speaks more clearly and having actual inflection in your voice makes you easier to listen to.

As for Ifill - I think she was effectively neutered from being aggressively biased due to the massive outpouring of claims of bias. I tried for hours to get thru to the Debate Commission and was succesful only once. Their phone lines were swamped. Their voice mail was overloaded.

Let me ask you this, though. Why didn't Ifill have a question related to energy? Palin had to force her comments in on that one - and it is obviously one of her strengths and a Biden weakness. Not a word from Ifill.

Also not a word on abortion to the first Republican female VP? This isn't generally a 'conservative advantage' topic - but with Palin and Obama that all changes.

Obama has supported what basically amounts to an infanticide bill (you may disagree on that description - my mind has been made up about it). Palin just chose 'life' and delivered a Down's Syndrome child (God bless Sarah, Todd and Trig). Advantage: Sarah.

Sarah also has used this topic extremely effectively in debates in Alaska.

When asked what she would do if one of her teenage daughters became pregnant Sarah replied "I would choose life. And I am confident you will be asking my opponents these same scenarios?"

OUCH! Sarah bites! You think Ifill wanted any part of that type of answer?

I think there was definitely some subtle bias there in the selection of questions.

No gun questions either. The questions largely played to Biden's strengths - not Sarah's.

..and she still rocked his world.

One thing that I forgot to comment on, did anyone else notice how Gov. Palins' mic was live both before and after the debate? Bidens' was live also but at an almost inaudible level. Think maybe they were hoping to get some "unfortunate" off the cuff remark? Maybe I'm just paranoid.

Bidens' "Bosniacs" comment was pretty funny also.

Gov. Palin's closing statement says it all....

<Blockquote>Closing statement from Governor Palin:

"I want to assure you, John McCain and I are going to fight for America. We're going to fight for the middle class families like mine. We also have to fight for our freedom." She quoted Ronald Reagan saying "We are just one generation away from extinction." She says "there is only one man in this race who has every really fought for you, and that's Senator John McCain."</blockquote>

Gov. Palin did a fine job. Both made minor verbal gaffes, Biden a major one regarding the VP position IMO, Gov. Palin whiffed on the "Achilles Heel" question IMO. I didn't see any signs of bias from Gwen Ifill, I thought she was professional. Put simply, I think Gov. Palin proved her competence, likely changed some minds and put some fire back into McCains' campaign.

More nit picking:

The VP and its duties are mentioned in Article I.

Later in Article II the VP is mentioned with no duties except to stand by. Executive duties of the VP would be at the discretion of the POTUS. Think of the VP as a Senate liaison to the White House.

Reasonable people can conclude the VP is part of the legislature and first in line of succession, before the speaker of the house, also a member of the legislature.

Grist for the mill and to stand up for Sarah.

She let me down when she got into global warning and cap and trade. Cap and trade, that's baseball hats and bubble gum cards.

Ex, I agree, as VP I think she would actually be procative in running the Senate. She is used to governing and as a result of her knowing the usage of a line Item veto device that Alaska Executive has she could be inclined to act as a communication link streamlining compromise between the Senate vs President. As top dog I dont think a President McCain would favor a lot of earmarks, as a proactive VP she could point out to the Senate as a whole likely bad lines on bills for compromise and thus prevent vetos from having to occur.

1st - it makes the imagination wander, doesn't it? Most VPs do little or nothing in the Senate (or anything else), and usually let the pres pro tem handle it. Palin doesn't strike me as the kind of politician who would shirk from the duty, however.
