I voted on Saturday as a part of early voting. I live in a battleground state so I kerplunked for McCain, otherwise I would have gone LIbertarian. I didn't even have to get drunk to do it.

Unfortunately I work in a very liberal area (college town) and people are literally crawling out of the woodwork to vote Obama. I only hope McCain can pull the proverbial white rabbit out of a hat, but in my area it's looking pretty grim.

RB,I am truely sorry for your lose and it sounds to me that your dad was a GREAT person to be around.
As for my thought process on this race.....I'm holding out that COMMON SENSE will win over the Greatest Liar since Beelza Bubba Clinton. Of course we know that all those with their hands out for the "FREE" stuff will cause Urban Renewal and scream foul. My hope is that ACORN will be handed its
Tax Free Status null and void!! Lastly....it is my hope that when McCain wins, early voting will be outlawed and shown as a fraud on the election. That you must show I.D. to vote. Voting is a privilege and a right not to be taken lightly.If you think it is too hard to verify who you really are and where you reside, then you are a hinderence to the process and therefor forfeit said vote. Be you black, white yellow, green, purple and so forth. Responsibilty (individual) needs to be addressed and adhered too!
If you love your FREEDOMS.....Thank a Veteran!!

Condolences for your loss, RB.

As far as the coronation, sorry - election - goes, I really, really hope you guys are right. I put on the TV and there's our watchdog media just urging and straining for President Odorable to win. They look like they're trying to force a dump: come oooonnnnn... one more pussshhhh...gnnnnnrrrr.

Of course if McCain loses. I'll be forced to riot, so the Burlington Mall better watch out.

If you want to see Fred Thompson on Meet the Press and think about what could have been, had only Thompson actually mounted a campaign of any type during the primaries and acted like he wanted the job:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/27501143#27501143

Of course, to quote Fred, showing he's apparently out of touch:

"We nominated the only fella who would have a chance, under these circumstances"

Uh, yeah.

He also blew the chance to correct Brokaw's assertion that "Republicans are the party that's been in power for the past eight years."

wardmama4 - Ironically it's the opposite where I live.

Most people are doing OK but worry about "the others" while somehow supporting tax increases on themselves. The "we get so much from the Federal Government, we should pay more" crowd.

Combine that with a university nearby and it's very heavily Obama/Biden wherever you look.

Then again my state went heavily Democratic in the last election, so I've no reason to believe we'll ever return to our Republican roots.

Like most states, the inflow of liberals from the coasts into our large cities has rapidly overwhelmed the more conservative politics of the more common-sense rural areas.

I'll of course be thrilled if a miracle occurs, but I'm living my life as if we will live in an overtly socialist country as of Wednesday.

McCain Camp: Things Are Getting Tight
Posted by michaelscherer
Sunday, November 2, 2008

On a brief jump flight from Philadelphia to Scranton, McCain adviser Charlie Black and Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback came back to talk up the campaign's conviction that the glass if half full. "Four years ago at this point, George W. Bush was down five points in Iowa," Brownback said. "Today John McCain is down one point in Iowa."

He was citing an unreleased internal McCain campaign poll of the state, which was completed last Thursday, said Black. (The campaign stopped doing its own polling after Thursday, he added, because television time through the election all had to be purchased by Friday.) However, public polls in Iowa suggest that McCain is still in a big hole. Last week, the Des Moines Register poll, which has a good record of prediction in that state, put McCain's deficit at 17 points, with Barack Obama garnering 54 percent of the support.

"McCain is in a good position to win every red state," Black said. "Plus he is probably going to win Pennsylvania and Iowa." Polls have narrowed sharply in Pennsylvania in recent weeks, though Obama still has a sizable lead of 7 points in the Real Clear Politics average. Black said he had seen a poll recently that showed McCain tied in the Philadelphia suburbs, a crucial swing region of the state.

I don't think.. I know John McCain is going to win the Whitehouse.
Remember my previous post which said:

I was having dinner a night ago with a friend of mine who is a statistician for a well-regarded private polling company. They do some work for Republicans in California, but most of the work they do is for Democrats or Democrat-leaning operations (Unions, etc.). Anyway, her shop was retained to do a few Presidential polls for targetted states on behalf of a union so the union could decide where to spend their ad dollars for the last week. They did Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada and Missouri. After mocking the hell out of the voter id spreads used by Rassmussen, Zogby, etc. (and this is coming from a committed Dem who will be voting for Barry O) she said the results of their polling lead her to believe that McCain will definitely win FL, OH, NC, MO and NV. She says Obama definitely wins New Mexico. She said that Colorado and New Hampshire were absolute dead heats. She said she thinks there is a 55% chance Obama holds on in Pennsylvania and a 75% chance McCain wins Virginia. She absolutely laughed at the public polls showing Obama leading Virginia–and pointed out that all of those polls rely on Dem turnout being +4 and as much as +7, when in 2006, Republicans actually had the advantage by +3. She also pointed out that the numbers for Obama in SWVA look absolutely awful and that McCain is running 10 points better then Allen did in NoVa.

Anyway, her companies conclusion is that the election will come down to Colorado, New Hampshire and the Republican leaning district in Maine, which in her opinion might very well decide the Presidency (apparently the district in Nebraska that Obama thought he might be able to get is now off the table). She said she has very little doubt that the public polling is part of a “concerted voter suppression effort” by the MSM. She said IBD/TIPP was the only outfit doing public polling that was “worth a bucket of warm piss”.

http://strata-sphere.com/blog/index.php/archives/6828
=======================

Now to IBD/TIPP today:

IBD/TIPP: Obama +2, under 50%
November 2, 2008
by Ed Morrissey

TIPP got the 2004 almost exactly correct, and now they’re showing a much closer national race than almost every other pollster. They now have Barack Obama ahead of John McCain by only 2, 46.7% to 44.6%. Outlier? Prophets? We’ll see on Tuesday, but if they’re right, two points in particular have to be worrying Team Obama:

The race tightened again Sunday as independents who’d been leaning to Obama shifted to McCain to leave that key group a toss-up. McCain also pulled even in the Midwest, moved back into the lead with men, padded his gains among Protestants and Catholics, and is favored for the first time by high school graduates.

===============================

The internals are interesting, but the topline results show two potentially disturbing trends for Obama. First, Obama has never gotten to 50% in the TIPP poll, and now has dropped below 47%. A Democrat hasn’t won 50% of the vote in decades, and Obama may have the same problem John Kerry had in 2004. Related to that is the high level of undecideds. Almost 9% still have not made up their minds about the election, and as I wrote earlier today, that bodes ill for Obama. If he hasn’t made the sale with this group by now, it’s likely that most of them will wind up in McCain’s column on Tuesday.

How do we know this? Independents have begun to break for McCain. McCain now leads 45-43. A week ago, Obama led 43-38 with 19% undecided. The entire 7% that has come out of the undecided column in that period have gone to McCain, and 12% of them still have to make up their minds. Interestingly, slightly more Democrats than Republicans are undecided — not good news for Obama.

If TIPP is right — then it calls into question the notion that Obama is leading in all of the battleground states. We’ll see who was right on Tuesday.

http://hotair.com/archives/2008/11/02/ibdtipp-obama-2-under-50/
========

It is true that TIPP is the correct..
the others are all in the tank for Obama.
In this case.. TIPP really is the only poll "worth a bucket of warm piss."

McCain will win.

=======================

===============================

We’ll see who was right on Tuesday.

http://hotair.com/archives/200.....-under-50/
========

It is true that TIPP is the correct..
the others are all in the tank for Obama.
In this case.. TIPP really is the only poll “worth a bucket of warm piss.”

McCain will win.

Gil.

PS:

I also came across DOD doc's of each veteran killed in action in Vietnam from the surrounding towns. My father also included statistics & prose of how many Americans died a week in WWII (about 2,000) as well as Vietnam.

I thought it poignant that a man from an older generation would take the time to consider & grieve the dead of America's "unpopular war".

Also, I found this:

"We've all seen the shaky black and white photos of American soldiers storming Utah beach and there in the lower left corner of the frame one is cut down, killed in a split second. That soldier died only once & went to his eternal peace - while we have seen him killed thousands of times & will again forever more reminding us how great the sacrifice for freedom can be."

Thank you my friends. I wish you were there. We had two dvds running with Pop's movies from Long Branch, Hickam Field & of course Da Bronx - circa 1940 - 1945 - IN ORIGINAL COLOR (Dad was "resourceful" in "accessing" even the most scarce stuff). It was terrific.

The VFW & Foreign Legion each gave a special service.

I found all a file of eulogies as well as all the speeches he gave over the many years as well as a file on a ten year effort to have France acknowledge a 106 yr old veteran of WW1 who lived in town the French Foreign Service Award. The vets loved it & I'll be making up a disc of the speeches & even the movies of the USO & Long Branch Base clips for them.

These truly are great people. If we live half way up to them, we'll be OK.

God Bless You All. I was OK all day until just now when I read your replies.

It meant a lot.
