The Poetic Stylings Of Young Barack Obama
From where the elites effete, The New Yorker:
Two Poems
by Barack Obama
July 2, 2007
In 1981, Barack Obama published two poems in the journal Feast…
Pop
Sitting in his seat, a seat broad and broken
In, sprinkled with ashes,
Pop switches channels, takes another
Shot of Seagrams, neat, and asks
What to do with me, a green young man
Who fails to consider the
Flim and flam of the world, since
Things have been easy for me;
I stare hard at his face, a stare
That deflects off his brow;
I’m sure he’s unaware of his
Dark, watery eyes, that
Glance in different directions,
And his slow, unwelcome twitches,
Fail to pass.
I listen, nod,
Listen, open, till I cling to his pale,
Beige T-shirt, yelling,
Yelling in his ears, that hang
With heavy lobes, but he’s still telling
His joke, so I ask why
He’s so unhappy, to which he replies…
But I don’t care anymore, cause
He took too damn long, and from
Under my seat, I pull out the
Mirror I’ve been saving; I’m laughing,
Laughing loud, the blood rushing from his face
To mine, as he grows small,
A spot in my brain, something
That may be squeezed out, like a
Watermelon seed between
Two fingers.
Pop takes another shot, neat,
Points out the same amber
Stain on his shorts that I’ve got on mine, and
Makes me smell his smell, coming
From me; he switches channels, recites an old poem
He wrote before his mother died,
Stands, shouts, and asks
For a hug, as I shink [sic], my
Arms barely reaching around
His thick, oily neck, and his broad back; ‘cause
I see my face, framed within
Pop’s black-framed glasses
And know he’s laughing too.
Underground
Under water grottos, caverns
Filled with apes
That eat figs.
Stepping on the figs
That the apes
Eat, they crunch.
The apes howl, bare
Their fangs, dance,
Tumble in the
Rushing water,
Musty, wet pelts
Glistening in the blue.
Lovely are they not?
Okay, not.
But surely Mr. Obama has your vote now. Or are you some kind of racist?
Or poetry lover hater?
(Thanks to Greybeard for the heads up.)

WTF?
May 6th, 2008 at 3:57 pm
BO’s poem (I say that loosely) “Pop” is all telling about his relationship with his drunken father? This is curious. Explain this stanza to me please…”Stain on his shorts that I’ve got on mine, and Makes me smell his smell” Huh? LOL

“WTF?”
That was pretty much my reaction!

I found another poem that Kelli Furishima, Barack’s high school teacher at Punahou High in Hawaii provided at Obama’s campaign site:
in case you ever what to use it- i just found this hawaii high school class photo: http://starbulletin.com/2007/02/08/news/art2ax.jpg

He is just pandering to the aquatic ape voting demographic. Reveals his ignorance, Ron Paul has already tied up the underwater monkey vote.

“WTF?”
To be fair, Mr. Obama was only twenty years old or so when he scribed these… well, I hesitate to call them prams. (M Python reference.)
But still…

If someone eats or drinks poison and you are told to induce vomiting, one Baracks poems will do if you have misplaced your picture of the snag!
May 6th, 2008 at 4:31 pm
To be fair, Mr. Obama was only twenty years old or so when he scribed these prams. :) :)
heh- just about the age when he was seeing the world so clearly too: “I had learned not to care. I blew a few smoke rings, remembering those years. Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it. Not smack, though. …”

The thing that is just astounding about these so called “poems’, is this man is running for President in the United States.
Twenty years ago he could not be elected dog catcher.

Dumb liberal poetry,
makes one smell like poo-poo.
Oh my, how funny, I made Haiku…..
Heh-heh, not really but it’s close.

texaspsue, I am almost afraid to know what he meant when he wrote.
”Stain on his shorts that I’ve got on mine, and Makes me smell his smell”
Maybe skid marks and gas?

“To be fair, Mr. Obama was only twenty years old or so when he scribed these prams.”
You’re right SG, the poetry (I say that loosely) that I wrote in highschool and college was extremely corny, I laugh at myself also. (LOL … see, I’m laughing at myself.)
But, it still reflects the passion and emotion of the writer. The “Pop” poem is truly WTF worthy as it is a little disturbing.
DEZ, yeah your right…let’s leave it at skidmarks and gas. LOL

Roses are sickend and violets are sad .
B O ’s poems .
Make me gag .
He sounds like a young Rev . Wright-On already .

One more from a notable era. My mom told me this one over fifty years ago.
Mary had a little watch, she swallowed it one day.
Her mother gave her a laxative, to pass the time away.
Time marches on, the watch didn’t pass.
If you want to know what time it is, go look up Mary’s…………uncle,
He has a watch.

Obama certainly has some serious father issues that have clouded his judgement over the years. Rev Wright was a father figure to him.So was Tony Rezko. And the domestic terrorist friends that he has certainly must fascinate him as they are dangerous and exciting. Michelle is overbearing and wears the pants in the family. We are getting to know the real Obama and it would be one scary day in America if he ever became President, along with angry, America-hating, spoiled brat Michelle as the First “Lady”!

SG , do you have a date on the above photo of the oppressed , yet dapper OB The movement ?

When I was in college I worked in the library for some extra cash. Seven storeys of books were too much for me to resist and I admit I spent a lot of time leafing through the books I should have been stocking. One day I came across some black poetry and read some of the most angry and vulgar ranting you could imagine. I’ll always remember one that spoke of black men abusing a “blonde white bitch” with their bodily functions. Not long after I was listening to NPR on MLK’s birthday and was shocked to hear the same garbage. What a beautiful culture.
I’ve been trying to write poetry since I was in high school and honestly believe that I have only gotten worse with every try. I won’t criticize Obama’s poems because they at least sound like he was being honest. Ugly, but honest. The real problem I see is that he’s not a man with the character to overcome the darker influences of his youth. I think they have overcome him. We’re reaching to the bottom of the barrel these days for presidents.

Well reasoned, GNb. Poetry is nothing less than another form of communication, albeit of a personal nature. Therefore it is indicative of the personality of its author, and representative of that person’s naked emotions. In other words, a peek behind the curtain. It’s this brief glimpse of Obamas true personna that I find unsettling.

greybeard , thanks for the time stamp and more . That’s why I love this site . Yet no pic’s of the oppressed OB . Could it be just in his mind or is he channeling ? Vengeful ? You decide .

Wow! Stain on his shorts that I’ve got on mine, and Makes me smell his smell
First thing that popped into my mind was “should I call the police and help this little boy who obviously has a sicko for a parent.” Anyone else get that vibe? Yikes

Anyone else get that vibe?
Yep.

I hear you.
Call me corny, but I’d rather vote for someone who celebrated the blessings of America. Blessings like freedom, liberty, love of family, and gracious sacrifice. Instead we have two self-serving marxist and one Benedict Arnold. IMO, a true American hasn’t anywhere to cast an honest vote. But if we have any courage left we will find another way.
May 7th, 2008 at 12:45 am
GNb ,we have the courage , it’s time for the rage . The forgotten man and woman must step up . I can only do what I can locally . Corny is a major upgrade from uncaring or libtard . Corny wrote the Constitution , Corny fought all the wars this Nation has faced to defend freedom . Corny has made this Country the breadbasket to the world . I am Corny too ! All my friends are Corny . Corny makes this COUNTRY WORK ! Say it loud and say it proud . Never heard of a metro- corny , have you ? Haw !

Heck, I may just vote for the Libertarian candidate. At least his initials are W.A.R.
with the choices available in this election, I may as well vote a kick ass acronym, and at least the guy is a ‘B” list celebrity…we can always hope for Reagan incarnate? lol

I am fairly sure (?) that this poem is about obama’s grandfather and not his father.
he most often refers to his father as ‘the old man’- although he refers to his grandfather as ‘gramps’
1)… a seat broad and broken …Arms barely reaching around His thick, oily neck,
his broad back
1a.His father was described as ’slender’ the only time Obama met him when he was 10.
2.the blood rushing from his face
2a. unlikly you’d see blood rushing from a dark face?
3.recites an old poem, He wrote before his mother died,
3a.grampa stan (who wanted a boy ermmm) was a jazz luver and a poet writer; his mother died when he was 8
3b Obama seniors 3 mothers appear to be still alive.
4. sprinkled with ashes, Pop switches channels, takes another Shot of Seagrams, neat,
4a. from Obams book …”I can still picture Gramps leaning back in his old stuffed chair after dinner, sipping whiskey and cleaning his teeth with the cellophane from his cigarette pack.”
5.pale,
6.as he grows small, (oh now you pervs have me thinking bad stuff) :)
6a.Throwin toots under the bus …” Before my eyes, he grew small and old and very sad”
7..Things have been easy for me (poe obo )
7a. i know i have seen this before- either his gramps or old man said it … Ill find it someday, but think it was gramps
p.s… shink [sic], an evasive sinking maneuver on a 90 degree angle from the pursuer’s course

I wouldn’t doubt your courage.
I believe the influence of the media has convinced many of us that we are forgotten but there are plenty of good men and women desperately poised.
“I can only do what I can locally”
My locality is populated by nothing but liberals. Some of them are actually good people that just aren’t proactive and have never been influenced by anything other than liberal media. I’ve turned more than a few :). Still, I need to move (been looking at Texas and Tennessee) and I’m hoping to find genuine America again. Any suggestions are welcome and - Keep up the Fire! Right now the z-monsters are getting the best of me and I’m logging off.

Thanks for sharing your research here.

guppy, if you chose Texas, chose wisely…Houston or Dallas…
San Antonio and Austin are lost to the moonbats…San Antonio for example just passed legislation that makes “murder” of an animal on par with “murder” of a human. Even the human society can do nothing except spay or neuter, then turn the animals loose to become feral…Libtards at their finest in that town.

I’m sure he’s unaware of his
Dark, watery eyes, that
Glance in different directions,
And his slow, unwelcome twitches,
Fail to pass. GAS. That’s right,
gas.

I’ve read better on a men’s room wall in the San Antonio bus depot…

GuppyNblue, I’ve visited Tenn. many times and lived in Texas for a few years. Take it from me, Texas is where you want to be.
May 7th, 2008 at 11:53 am
Texas is awesome—I half-joke with my fellow Texans that if Hillary or Obama gets in office, we all need to move to Texas and secede from the union! By the way, thanks for your insight, Greybeard—I actually felt some relief if that is his grandfather…..
May 7th, 2008 at 12:15 pm
“if Hillary or Obama gets in office, we all need to move to Texas and secede from the union”
I would jump all over that opportunity. I’ve only been to Dallas once to see the Boys pummel the Redskins but I’m sold on that idea.
