Obama Bows Again – Japanese Emperor

From the Associated Press:

U.S. President Barack Obama bows as he is greeted by Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko as he arrives at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009.

Of course his shameless minions, like ‘Baghdad Bob’ Gibbs will simply deny this ever happened.

Just like before.

This time of year, I’m reminded of a furry green character who hated the Who’s. Only I don’t think that after he steals all the Who’s Christmas joy that his heart will grow three times its size and he’ll feel compelled to bring it all back and even carve the roast beast.

Also, perhaps his shameless displays of beta-dog-ness are an attempt to show his street thug homeys the way they really feel.

But in reality, he’s a spoiled brat who has misplaced anger issues. Don’t know why; Don’t care. Wrong man for the wrong job in the wrong time.

  2. Liberals Demise says:

Barogue obama is merely looking for the Yens that fell out of the fellows hand as they were shaking hands. (BRIBE or HUSH MONEY)

I counted 6 times this puke bowed. (once was more than enough)
Apologies will follow for winning the war and rebuilding them as a powerful Democracy.
    Our bad!!

Barogue didn’t cover his heart …….. Muslims don’t have one!!

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

Wait’ll you hear the insults that flow when he goes to Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

One thing he for SURE doesn’t understand is Japanese pride. It’s a very complicated thing and is deeply rooted in the Shinto culture. But he probably picked up a copy of “Japanese Culture For Dummies” at the airport to go by.

  3. Rip Cord says:

I CAN’T wait to see him bow to President Sarah Palin.;-) A REAL leader.

  4. GL0120 says:

One quick question – is he bowing or blowing?
Odd how one letter makes a huge difference.

  5. proreason says:

This is the walk-back from the Saudi bow that was real.

He might bow to everyone from here on out, just to prove the Saudi bow wasn’t meaningful.

    • jobeth says:

Pro, you beat me to it. That was my thought too. I had to sign back in so you got there before me ; -D Now he can claim he does that for every head of state.

I understand he also refused to go to A-Bomb sites. I’m sure that was only because his tour timetable didn’t allow for a full apology speech. He needs t-i-m-e to apologize for that and to get his groveling position just right.

  6. Gladius et Scutum says:

Even liberals should be embarassed by this bow. I had to learn bowing for the martial arts. The lower the bow, the greater the difference in position. This is at “junior clerk-to-Emperor” level. Since Emperor Akihito is unlikely to be expecting a briefing on shipping figures from Niigata prefecture, Obama just looks like a “gaijin” (foreign barbarian).

Incidently, according to Robert Lacey in “The Kingdom: Arabia and the House of Sa’ud” Abdul Aziz Ibn Sa’ud, the founder of Saudi Arabia, did not allow people to bow to him, as part of his (contrived) “bedouin boy” reputation.

So much for mult-culturalism. A poster on another blog suggested that POTUS is not actually bowing, but mooning the US, and I’m inclined to agree.

    • Confucius says:

      You’re most correct, Gladius-hopper. :-)

Obama’s deeper bow is a sign of lower status.

Even more shocking is how Obama is looking at the ground while the Emperor is looking at him. This is a sign of subservience.

The third faux pas is Obama touching the Emperor.

  7. bobbys says:

Miyagi: First, wash all car. Then wax. Wax on…
Obama senl: Hey, why do I have to…?
Miyagi: Ah ah! Remember deal! No questions!
    Obama sen : Yeah, but…
    Miyagi: Hai!
[makes circular gestures with each hand]
Miyagi: Wax on, right hand. Wax off, left hand. Wax on, wax off. Breathe in through nose, out the mouth. Wax on, wax off. Don’t forget to breathe, very important.
[walks away, still making circular motions with hands]
Miyagi: Wax on, wax off. Wax on, wax off.

  8. bobbys says:

He could have told the Emperor what he told the Republicans.

    WE WON!!!

  9. canary says:

This photo was seconds after Obama kissed the Emperors hand.

The other photo was seconds after Obama knelt on one knee and kissed the Arabian King, (Obama thought he was in England where you don’t touch the Queen)

  10. retire05 says:

Well, one thing about it, you can now say that Obama will bring a new vision of America to our foreign allies. He has let them know that we are willing to be submissive.

If you look at the video (on YouTube) he continues his bowing to the Empress. He looks like a dash board bobble head doll.

I think I will from this day forward call Barack Hussein Obama “President O-Bobble-head.”

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

It’s clear that his “instruction” on bowing comes from a bigoted perspective. I’m surprised he didn’t say something like, “Wow, you guys have really gotten good at dentistry. And the contacts really look so much better than those ugly glasses y’all used to have”.

Seriously…..it had to go through his mind that he would bow because he was vaguely aware that it was somehow significant in Japan. So, he assembled why it’s important in his own little head and came up with a “style all his own” with the intention, of course, to demonstrate some sort of humility, most likely. But again, his self-education is incomplete. The way it was when he talked about the car being invented in the US and the compass invented in the middle east.

He’s not just sophomoric in his “statesman” attempts, he’s downright rude and boorish. I have no real great tolerance for many of the customs that other countries have but when one travels abroad, (rather than WITH one), one must make the effort and take the time to read up and get smart on such things. When even a decent effort is made, they do appreciate it.

However, the biggest mechanism at work here is his inability to take instruction, if anyone tried to tell him, and/or his misplaced self-confidence. The rest of the world probably has more familiarity with Shinto custom than he ever did or will. It’s most likely an annoyance. But also, it was completely unnecessary to do what he did. The bobble-head thing is clearly derived from the point he took from somewhere in a movie that stereotyped a character, like “Gung Ho”.

He’s a walking, talking embarrassment, not up to even the most modest of statesmanship tasks. 3 more years of this is gonna leave me with a very large headache.

On another note, I’ll bet in private the Japanese people probably laughed their asses off.

  11. Chuckk says:

At least the Japanese are not funding terorism.

  12. ptat says:

It has now become his trademark, customary “Have mercy on us for we are the scum of the earth” greeting. Protocol.

  13. Rip Cord says:

Hey, does anyone remember when Obama Hussein was in front of Putin and his Russian Ministers, and that none of the minisers shook Baraks’ hand? Guess we now know why! LOL

  14. KW says:

When bowing is it customary to also shake hands?

Next stunt will be groveling and hand licking.

  15. Moonspinner says:

I am surprised Obama doesn’t hit his noggin on the floor with all that bowing he does to his superiors. This is what happens when an idiot is elected president of the USA. I also noticed that no other head of state from other nations bowed down – only Obama. Actions speak louder than words. Obama believes America is inferior to all other nations thus he bows down to their leaders.

  16. proreason says:

    Thomas Sowell:

“As a private citizen, Barack Obama has a right to make as big a jackass of himself as he wants to. But, as president of the United States, his actions not only denigrate a nation that other nations rely on for survival, but raise questions about how reliable our judgment and resolve are — which in turn raises questions about whether those nations will consider themselves better off to make the best deal they can with our enemies.”

“jackass” is a pretty good descriptor for the boy king. It amply conveys the notion that he is an arrogant bastard who is going to do whatever he wants, no matter how foolish it is, and no matter how dire the consequences..

  17. Rip Cord says:

Barak reminds me of the Wayne’s World skit where Wayne and Garth both grovel at a celebrity, like Madonna. appearing in the same skit while they are both screaming, “We are not worthy, we are not worthy!”
