Once we teach Iraqis how to vote without hanging chads or "lost" ballets ending up in a Mosque....is there any chance that they will come here to protect and oversee our voting system? Can "THEY" do something about ACORN....

Why John, that is a most uncharitable comment. I'm sure those fine, upstanding young gentlemen were just there to make sure that other people wouldn't intimidate those voters. It would be wrong for the media to spread their heroism, that could so easily be misinterpreted. /sarcasm

Sarcastic or not, I feel dirty just writing that.

Considering just how far democracy has come in Iraq, the seeming lack of violent opposition to the elections is notable--and commendable.

This one reported incident makes me wonder, especially since the media claim to be our "watch dog", where was the coverage of the black-beret-ed thugs with nightsticks who were intimidating voters during our most recent elections. One would think such behavior in the back yard of the "world's beacon of democracy" would be a noteworthy occurence, would one not?

Nope. No bias here!

When are we going to start using the ink bottle in our elections?

Oh yeah, it would put ACORN out of business, nevermind.

"Am I the only one noticing that this mentions nothing about US Military being required/used to provide the secuirty - isn’t that one of the benchmarks that the damn Fiberals claim Iraq/We’ve never reached?"

No, you are not. I almost mentioned something along those lines in the post.

In fact, there was no mention anywhere of the security hand-off, or indeed anything about the US military.

It must have all been a dream.

Government officials said the early balloting would help ensure that security forces would be on duty to protect polling stations on Saturday

While sadly 'the voting APPEARED to go smoothly" , Thank God that there was at least one act of violence. Now the One can call for peaceful elections in Iraq and when it goes well on Saturday, he can take the credit.

Currently reading Bing West's "The Strongest Tribe" - I recommend it to every S&L reader. I wonder if Mr. West is a contributor to this site. Know him, Colonel?

As democracy grows in Iraq, it shrinks in the U.S.

It took about 230 years for the criminals to figure out how easy it is to buy the country.

The key was turning the schools into indoctination centers.
