Once we teach Iraqis how to vote without hanging chads or “lost” ballets ending up in a Mosque….is there any chance that they will come here to protect and oversee our voting system? Can “THEY” do something about ACORN….

Why John, that is a most uncharitable comment. I’m sure those fine, upstanding young gentlemen were just there to make sure that other people wouldn’t intimidate those voters. It would be wrong for the media to spread their heroism, that could so easily be misinterpreted. /sarcasm

Sarcastic or not, I feel dirty just writing that.

Considering just how far democracy has come in Iraq, the seeming lack of violent opposition to the elections is notable–and commendable.

This one reported incident makes me wonder, especially since the media claim to be our “watch dog”, where was the coverage of the black-beret-ed thugs with nightsticks who were intimidating voters during our most recent elections. One would think such behavior in the back yard of the “world’s beacon of democracy” would be a noteworthy occurence, would one not?

Nope. No bias here!

No, you are not. I almost mentioned something along those lines in the post.

In fact, there was no mention anywhere of the security hand-off, or indeed anything about the US military.

It must have all been a dream.
