Times Sq Bomber Planned Second Attack

From the New York Post:

Faisal wanted 40 dead

September 30, 2010

Failed Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad bragged that he hoped to murder at least 40 innocent victims, and would have attempted a second attack two weeks later if he hadn’t been busted, the feds revealed yesterday.

The terrorist wannabe also told of watching real-time video feeds over the Web to plan his botched blast at the Crossroads of the World, court papers said.

"According to Shahzad, he wanted to select the busiest time for pedestrian traffic in Times Square because pedestrians walking on the streets would be easier to kill and injure than people driving in cars," prosecutors wrote

And, as we have previously noted, Mr. Shahzad put his bomb right at the entrance to the theater where ‘The Lion King’ was having a Saturday matinee, so that many of the victims would be children.

Prosecutors said Shahzad’s "lasting sense of pride in his actions" — including calling himself a "mujahid," or Muslim holy warrior, during his guilty plea — left "no potential for rehabilitation."

The feds also gave the judge two videos, including a demonstration of what would have happened if Shahzad, 31, had succeeded in setting off his homemade car bomb on May 1. The fireball obliterated about a dozen dummies arrayed around a truck and turned four nearby vehicles into wreckage that was sent hurtling through the air in a Pennsylvania field.

And yet at the time our news media did everything in its power to convince us that this was practically a harmless prank undertaken by a laughably ineffectual goof ball.

The other video — created by the Pakistani Taliban — shows Shahzad holding a copy of the Koran while saying, "Get up and learn from me and make an effort. Nothing is impossible if you just keep in mind that Allah is with you."

Similarly, our watchdog media also tried to convince us that Mr. Shahzad was just your typical suburban Connecticut suburban dad, who if anything, was a little distraught about his mortgage.

    Only 40?

Obamy says we can absorb lot more than that. Only 40? We wouldn’t even hear about it after a couple of days, kind of like that irate lovelorn who got mad after somebody keyed his car and did something in Texas or somewhere about a year ago. Not even newsworthy.

Interesting point about the “ability to absorb” a terrorist attack. it occurred to me the other day that the boy president makes these utterances the way people do in breakrooms across the country when they are frustrated with their cubicle-farm jobs. They blurt things out that have no credibility and no basis in rational thought. But that’s what I’ve come to expect from him. He’s a piece of work, this guy and the sad thing is, he actually thinks he’s smart and thus, when he spews some new remark, it is to be revered as enlightening and pithy.

Fact is, he’s really getting on everybody’s nerves, even the ones who thought he was something new.

      They say he’s super smart.

But that remark was made to Bob Woodward, who isn’t exactly an unknown reporter or one who has refused to publish embarrassing statements from politicians, even presidents.

The remark is roughly equivalent to saying that the country can absorb a few million abortions a year.

Well, let’s review……how well did we “absorb” 9/11. Aside from the 3,000 murders, the economy went into a tailspin, we spent about a trillion in the next 7 years to fight back, and effort that created a seemingly irreconciliable schism between the left and the right in this country. The effort has cost another 5,000 lives, and an unpublished number of mained. The airline industry was nearly ruined, and now everybody but terrorists has to undergo two hours of inconvenience every time they fly. We created a new Homeland Security organization that now has over 35,000 employees. 9/11 is still considered the equivalent of the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor; in other words, the worst day in our 235 year history. The kill zone in NYC remains empty. Recently, a firestorm erupted when terrorsist sympathisers decided to built a triumph mosque there. And in a way, we were lucky, since 9/11 wasn’t a nuclear attack. Some “absorbtion”, huh?

When he made the remark, he was speaking as the President of the United States, leader of the most powerful country on earth, a country with more than 300,000,000 citizens, the man constitutionally responsible for defending the country, and by tradition, responsible for representing all of the people in the country.

      They say he’s super smart.

Lessons learned from this affair –

    1. Don’t get married
    2. Don’t move to the suburbs
    3. Don’t father children, and
    4. For God’s sake don’t take out a mortgage

These four things make you crazy and you’ll end up with an SUV packed with explosives and a jones to work it out n innocent city dwellers (who are moral, good people, renters and Democratic base).

Thank you, MSM. I understand this Learning Moment.

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

Well, as I see it, it justifies that criteria for the administration to now scrutinize any/all US citizens who do those things. I mean, it’s clearly justified, right? (sarc)

“would have attempted a second attack two weeks later if he hadn’t been busted, the feds revealed yesterday.”

Wasn’t he arrested on a plane to Pakistan? There seems to be a logistical problem with that statement. Two weeks to fly to and from Pakistan then plan and execute a terrorist attack, shortly after another which would of undoubtedly increased scrutiny of flights from Pakistan, seems a little bit of a stretch to me. Either false bravado on Mr. Shahzad’s part or an embellishment to make it sound like the great Obama stopped two birds with one stone. Wonder who the liar is.

  4. Right of the People says:

Once again we can all be thankful that Mr. Shahzad was a complete incompetent as are most of the jihadis. If they ever get someone who really knows their stuff we might be in trouble. Fortunately not only is he an incompetent boob he’s a delusional one too.

    • Liberals Demise says:

If he could get some one to erase his past and doctor up a birth certificate…..
he could run for President on the Democratic ticket.

      My bad…..that’s been done already.

Sharia Law has now been taken to a new level. One can only shake their heads! These butchers of the Islamic faith will NOT stop at nothing to spead their sub-human religion all over the world.
