Times Square Bomber Gets Life Sentence

From an incensed Associated Press:

Times Square attempted bomber gets life sentence

NEW YORK – The Pakistani immigrant who tried to set off a car bomb in Times Square was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison, a mandatory penalty that left him defiant as ever and the judge who sentenced him determined to send a message to anyone who might want to follow in his path.

"The Pakistani immigrant"? What happened to describing Mr. Shahzad as an American? What happened to calling him a suburban dad from Connecticut who was only upset because his house had been foreclosed on?

Faisal Shahzad came to court to tell Americans he felt no remorse about his May 1 bombing attempt, and he sparred with U.S. District Judge Miriam Goldman Cedarbaum.

Cedarbaum said her sentence was very important "to protect the public from further crimes of this defendant and others who would seek to follow him."

So why not execute him? Wouldn’t that serve as even more of a deterrence?

On the other hand, as long as he is a prisoner he will be used as a ‘recruiting tool’ for the terrorists. And we know how much the Obama administration wants to avoid ‘recruiting tools.’

Shahzad, 31, defended his attempt to kill Americans. During his statement before sentencing, Cedarbaum cut him off at one point to ask if he had sworn allegiance to the United States when the Pakistan-born Shahzad became a citizen last year.

"I did swear but I did not mean it," Shahzad said.

"So you took a false oath," the judge told him.

Wow, the judge sure told him. Of course, as a self-described "Muslim soldier" (whose religion is not mentioned anywhere in this article), Mr. Shahzad would have no problem swearing to anything for the infidels. Especially, when doing so was part of his jihad.

But just imagine — he lied about his allegiance to the US.

Isn’t it amazing that our terror-fighter president was able to rush this trial through just in time for the November elections.

Why this must have been the fastest high-profile trial in the last 50 years.

  2. beautyofreason says:

Only an act of physics prevented this man from becoming a mass murderer.

    His intent was the same.
    His remorse is zero.
He deserves a table with straps, not an hour of daily recreation, free meals, a fan club, a copy of the Koran and an arrow pointed at Mecca.

It’s too bad that execution is not an option. We can thank the New York State Supreme Court for ruling the death penalty unconstitutional. Thank you activism.

On a side note, a lawyer in the U.K. is arguing that the extradition of an Al Qaeda member who helped plan the Times Square bombing would violate his human rights.

Just if you needed any more reason to hate lawyers – or liberal perversions of the justice system.

You wonder how many other future U.S. citizens take the oath and don’t mean it. Chilling.

One can only hope he meets Allah at the dinner table when he sees a pigs eye looking up at him from his sammich. (eye for a eye)
Death by 1,000 cuts is too lenient ……..

  5. GL0120 says:

Should’ve given him the death penalty.
Then, when he was all thrilled about becoming a martyr and getting his 72 virgins, announce that he’d be castrated before execution and he’d suffer eternal hell with 72 useless virgins.
