It’s been said time and time again that although our military answers to teh civilian contigent in our government, the key is for the politicians to tell their military leaders what they want. Not how they want done, when, or where, etc. Military leaders are taught to deafeat the enemy, anywhere, anytime and when left to that, they are very good to excellent.

But here again is a rookie president who actually believes that a limited and government controlled engagement will satisfy the need. It’s like a boxer going into the ring with one hand tied behind their back and then expecting them to “be versatile”.

The overwhelming chagrin I have that angers me is the very fact that to Obama and his “cabinet”, these soldiers are of no real meaning. They are not people and he has already told us that “Hey, they volunteered to be in the military; They should expect what they get”.

It’s not that he’s an “intellectual”; It’s that he’s PLAYING an intellectual while wanting to set up a poker game in his basement. He’s that guy at work who games the system and yet never seems to get anything done. Who cries foul whenever there’s disciplinary action against him…and who tries to surround himself with the high rollers.

Most of us, and even the ones who voted for him, to some extent, know deep down that he’s a poor excuse for any kind of leadership, management, technical appraisal, etc. He has no inherent skills to speak of, other than he’s a great bullshitter. Fortunately, on the face of it, it’s startnig to wear thin even on some of his early fans. There is a contingent that will never admit defeat or that he’s nothing like the brochure said he was but like I’ve said: We got rid of Carter..we can get rid of this excuse-riddled loser too.

And of course then it will make America all the more vulnerable to even more homeland (in)secure.

But the Community Organizer in Chief was never, ever about Homeland Security and Defense.

So now we see it in action.

The Strategy doesn’t, in any way, consider the lives of our servicemen. It also doesn’t have anything to do with Terrorism or Afghanistan. It depends exclusively on how the rest of The Moron’s fascist agenda is proceding, and the need to placate the crazies who put him on his throne.

“Defense Secretary Robert Gates initially had asked the new commander to submit an assessment of the war effort within 60 days of taking over the helm in June.

But after an unannounced meeting with the commander over the weekend in Belgium, Gates has given the general until early September instead of mid-August to complete his assessment, his press secretary, Geoff Morrell said.

The commander’s report also will not include a specific appeal for more troops in Afghanistan, Morrell said.

“The assessment will focus on the situation on the ground and the way ahead but will not offer specific resource requests or recommendations,” Morrell said.”

Why is it that Obama didn’t want McChrystal’s report in August? This struck me as odd back then.
Now we know that August was the big month for the Obama-care push, among other things. And why were they so insistent that he wasn’t going to ask for more troops? How incredibly disingenuous of this president to so blatantly play politics with our men in harm’s way.
For all his good reviews, I’ve never really trusted Gates, and this seals the deal. He knew what McChrystal wanted, and he went to Belgium to shut him up about it. Now he’s letting McChrystal and our troops hang out to dry. If Gates has any decency, he’ll resign and let this all rest on Obama.

Perhaps Obama should pretend he’s a good administrator and hire a highly trained & experienced General to make that assessment.

As a very proud Aunt I will mention my 20 year old nephew, a Marine, is scheduled to go to Afghanistan in May. I want his behind protected with the amount of soldiers recommended and requested. IMO, Barry is a disgrace as Commander in Chief.
