Trumka: Pols Are Living In Wonderland

From the ‘Caucus’ blog of the New York Times:

Labor Speech Previews Clash With Business in 2012

By MICHAEL D. SHEAR
January 19, 2011

Richard Trumka, the president of the AFL-CIO, says Washington politicians are living in an “Alice in Wonderland political climate” that ignores the needs of workers struggling to survive in a difficult economy.

The sharp-edged remarks are part of a speech Mr. Trumka is scheduled to give Wednesday morning that is designed to push back against the policies of Republican lawmakers who seized control of the House in last year’s elections. It is also a goad to President Obama, whose administration has recently seemed eager to court the business community.

The speech will help to set the tone of a debate that is likely to intensify as business and labor groups verbally clash during the 2012 presidential campaign.

“So let me get this straight,” Mr. Trumka says, according to excerpts of remarks obtained by The Caucus. “We need to slash retirement and health benefits for the elderly because we are on the brink of fiscal crisis — but we can afford to squander hundreds of billions of dollars in tax cuts for the super-rich? Only at the Mad Hatter’s tea party does this make sense.”

“People who live in Wonderland may not have noticed, but there is a lot of work to be done here,” he will say in the speech. “We have let our transnational business titans convince our politicians that our national strength lies in their profits, not our jobs.”

Apparently Mr. Trumka didn’t get the memo about being more civil.

But come to think of it, Mr. Trumka doesn’t ‘get memos.’ He writes them.

    Bring it on.

Let’s have a total clash of civilizations in 2012.

Yes, those viloent, vitriolic, hateful, violence-inducing-with-their-words, republicans who seized control without so much as a how-do-you-do to the people of the United States. It’s as if they just came and grabbed power.

More democrat projection. Trumka should know about living in a “Wonderland”. After all, he’s created one for himself and other of his elitist cronies, all of whom are working both sides of the street in a quest to keep the rank and file enslaved.

Just another socialist running his mouth for the supposed benefit of the dupes who will vote to keep him and his ilk in power.

I can truthfully say I have lived my life trying not to hate, and to impart that lesson to my children and grandchildren. Yet as someone who has belonged to a union for over forty-two years, I can also say without equivocation, I hate those bastards with unbridled passion.

    God forgive me.

When was that exactly? What business community has the regime been eager to court? Maybe they should have said “… recently seemed eager to take the business community to court.” Not quite the same thing though is it?

So let me get this straight Trumka you POS, the union which I was forced to join, due to the lack of “Right to Work” laws in my state, has just sent me a notice that my retirement benefits will be reduced by 40%. This is being done even though there has been no “Endangered Status” filing by the IAMAW with the Dept. of Labor.
When you find yourself having money involuntarily taken from your paycheck every week Dick, and are forced to have your retirement packaged slashed by 40% without your consent, then you can start flapping your gums. Until then however STFU!

I will believe in a conservative Republican Party the day they pass laws in Congress outlawing Unions as a crime against Humanity and round up Union leaders for life sentences in Coventry.
