Trumka To Mail 10M Pieces Of Agit-Prop

From The Hill:

AFL-CIO revs up mail effort for GOTV campaign

By Kevin Bogardus – 10/25/10

The AFL-CIO is sending out 10 million pieces of mail during the final week of the 2010 mid-term campaign.

Campaigning hard since the summer, the nation’s largest labor federation is now moving towards revving up its massive get-out-the-vote (GOTV) effort after working to persuade union members to back Democratic candidates this November.

By end of the week, the AFL-CIO will have sent out more than 28 million direct mail pieces during the 2010 election cycle.

Included in this newest round of mail will be a “slate card” of AFL-CIO-endorsed candidates in state and local races. It will also have information for union members on how to find out where to vote and if they need to bring any form of identification to their polling places.

Meaning, ‘if they don’t require too much identification, you know what to do.’ (Hint: vote early and often.)

In addition to the slate card will be one of two letters from AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka.

One letter will warn what the Republican agenda means for the labor movement…

The other letter takes aim at how business groups, like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, have spent millions on election-year ads going after Democratic candidates.

And never mind how much the unions, like the AFL-CIO has spent. And, moreover, how much they have ‘contributed in kind’ with their phone banks and ‘GOTV drives.’

“All that foreign money can buy TV ads. They can lie about our candidates. But there is one thing their money can’t buy,” Trumka writes. “So this Tuesday stand up and fight back. You know the stakes. You know who is on your side. Go to the polls and vote.”

Needless to say, that the Chamber of Commerce is using any of their measly (less than $100,000) "foreign donations" (from Americans living overseas) in their campaign spending is a blatant lie.

But it is especially egregious for such a lie to be promoted by a man and a union that works hand in glove with the Communist Party of the USA. (See the list of ‘related articles’ below.)

A union official said mailing the slate card with one of the two letters is a result of the AFL-CIO’s own testing and voter-targeting to improve their political program.

The official called it “the most sophisticated GOTV mail program the AFL-CIO has ever done.”

Meaning they are really lying their heads off this time.

Still, you have to wonder what else is included in these mailings, given what Associated Press (inadvertently) reported last week:

Unions making election push despite enthusiasm gap

(AP) – Oct 15, 2010

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Aaron Jones has heard the frustrations as he goes door-to-door among union households — the economy remains poor; issues important to workers are stalled in Congress; Republicans seem more energized this election.

Put mildly: "There is an enthusiasm challenge," said Jones, the leader of a five-person voter canvassing crew for a local chapter of the Service Employees International Union

"A lot of people are mad, upset," said George Tucker, executive secretary of the greater northwest Ohio AFL-CIO in Toledo. "They thought, ‘You let your team in and everything changes overnight.’"

For Tucker and other union campaigners, the first task often is to persuade union members that Democrats are doing all they can to help them. The second task then is to motivate them to vote….

"Sometimes you have to remind people that, ‘Hey, Jesus Christ couldn’t do anything more than President Obama has on the agenda we supported two years ago without the United States Senate having the votes for cloture to overcome a filibuster" by Republicans, said Herb Johnson, secretary-treasurer of the Missouri AFL-CIO

That could be true.

But to be fair, there is no evidence that Jesus Christ hated capitalism the way Mr. Obama, the SEIU, the AFL-CIO and the CPUSA do.

If you thought liberals stopped admiring President Barack Obama as the Messiah, think again…”Sometimes you have to remind people that, `Hey, Jesus Christ couldn’t do anything more than President Obama has on the agenda we supported two years ago without the United States Senate having the votes for cloture to overcome a filibuster” by Republicans, said Herb Johnson, secretary-treasurer of the Missouri AFL-CIO.

    Headline says it all.

So this is what UNION DUES are for?–political agitation? Seems like they are professional lobbyists to me.

It’s too bad, union workers spend money on an entire level of government they don’t need—union bosses. Unions were supposed to be about fair working rights, but now it’s just another money-raising political arm of the Democrat party.

I do not recall Bush harming the unions in any manner. The coal-miners a day early in PA, and then the evening before election day, we hear Obama saying the coal industry will go bankrupt and energy will sky-rocket.
