Mob attacks police over litter dispute

Friday, 18 July 2008Schoolchildren who attacked a policeman after he asked one of them to pick up some litter behaved worse than animals, the officer said today.
Two officers were set on by a mob, some wearing school uniform, after they asked a teenage girl to pick up a fast-food wrapper she had dropped.
She picked it up but then pointedly threw it on the ground again as a large crowd gathered around her and the two policemen.
A 15-year-old girl then jumped on the 34-year-old officer and repeatedly bit him on the shoulder and torso.
A colleague who raced to his aid was pulled to the ground and kicked by others as several older men and women joined the fracas in a shopping precinct in Croydon, south London.
At one point more than 30 people were involved in the fight in North End, a popular after-school hangout for young people.
The police constable, who was recovering from his bite injuries at home today, said the incident quickly escalated out of control.
He said: “They swarmed at the start. They feel they can overcome you like a gang. It was a good 30-plus youths.
“It is the behaviour. It is unbelievable. I find it amazing that someone could bite another human being like that.
“They were acting like animals, but I hate using the term ‘animals’ because they would not do that. Animals have a reason for doing something.
“This is just nonsense violence. It is difficult to think that they could do something like this - and to a policeman.”
Detectives were studying CCTV footage of the attack today in a bid to identify all of those involved.
A 15-year-old girl was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault. She has since been released on bail.
The officer said that when the girl’s parents arrived at the police station they complained that the start of her summer holiday had been disrupted.
Today, detectives appealed for witnesses to the attack which happened on Wednesday at about 3pm.
The officers were on patrol in the busy pedestrianised area, close to branches of Woolworths and Burger King.
Officers believe five young women were involved at the start of the incident. They were joined by a number of men in their 30s and 40s.
Investigators believe a number of older women also joined in. All of those involved were black.
The 29-year-old police constable suffered bruising and knee injuries and is on sick leave.
Two men, aged 34 and 38, were arrested today in South Norwood on suspicion of assault and violent disorder…

“Whilst we would never use the word ‘mob’, which is an inflammatory word, we can confirm that eyewitnesses have described their initial fear that officers were going to be seriously injured or killed…
What a shock that this news report actually noted the race of the perpetrators. Most of the other reports on this incident somehow manage to leave out that and other such details.

Witnesses said the male police constables, aged 29 and 34, were victims of such “horrific violence” as a pack of up to 30 youths and adults set upon them that they feared they would be beaten to death.
The attack happened in broad daylight in Croydon town centre at 3pm on Thursday afternoon.
The officers had asked a teenage girl to pick up a fast food wrapper she had dropped on the pavement. She did so, but then mockingly dropped it on the ground again.
When the officers persisted, the girl’s 15-year-old “noisy and uncooperative” female friend allegedly set upon them.
One officer was bitten on the shoulder. The Pcs were then surrounded by dozens of other, older men and women, and at least three more teenage girls.

But the London police are almost as politically correct:

Heavens no. We mustn’t ever be inflammatory.
It wasn’t a “mob.” Just a group of (elderly) youths, overexcited about their summer holiday.
Alas, this is where our country is also headed. If we aren’t there already.

You think with all the cameras England has the whole incident would have been caught on tape and there’d be no need to look for witnesses.

It was clearly the fault of the police. Why didn’t the officer just pick up the litter himself?

Theodore Dalrymple writes on the current dismal state of the UK for the City Journal on a pretty regular basis. This type of incident, & the fatuous response by the ruling elite, is becoming increasingly common. At the end of it all, the police officers involved will likely be reprimanded for inciting the response cited.
The UK is finished. It may hang around for a few more years but it won’t be recognizable in another 20 years. Westminster Abbey will be a Mosque & the Royal bones now interred there will be tossed into the Thames.

The UK is only slightly ahead of the US in its race to commit suicide. While the UK looks to allow rule by Sharia law within its borders, liberal Supreme Court justices in the US look to International law rather than the Constitution for its rulings.

our supreme court sold us out. Sold us to the “world community”. The supreme court gave our enemies the ability to kill our soldiers in combat….and sue that soldier’s family for making his life uncomfortable is he is captured.
where is our soldier’s rights to the same access to the enemy’s justice system? Under sharia law, his right is to die with shame after being tortured. That is sharia law. Our supreme court just did a supreme blunder. They gave Islam the toehold that Bin Laden failed to achieve.
Those justices….are disgustingly ignorant of who they just gave to keys to the city to. I can only hope that the rights given enemy combatants eventually lead to the justices demise…at the hands of those they freed. That’s the best way I can put it. And I sincerely hope it happens.
