Gee, do ya think this has anything at all to do with the high unemployment rate? I mean, I know employers are just ABUZZ WITH ANTICIPATION at the thought of unionized employees (sarc) – perhaps they’re sloughing off the excess to save themselves (non-sarc).

Maybe next we can eliminate that pesky secret ballot in all other elections too!

After all, that only allows for “intimidation” of voters via political ads!

Wouldn’t it be so much better if you could just go down to your local polling place and in front of your neighbors and current elected officials just tell them who you’re voting for?

Just think, no voter fraud, and no hanging chads!

I gave my Chamber of commerce an earful today on how they need to get active to fight crap like this.

What the hell am I paying dues for anyhow..

Did anyone here see the Gingrich speech at CPAC.

If you can find it online, make a point of watching.

As Gringrich points out, toward the end of his talk, this is probably the most vicious attack on the freedom (and money) of the working man in American history.

Basically, it makes the unions semi-gov’t organizations, and makes union membership and dues paying, compulsory.

It means that vast thousands of workers, like-it-or-not will be forced to contribute part of their paychecks to the Democrat political machine, on pain of losing their jobs.

THIS IS VERY SERIOUS VERY BAD NEWS.

Unions are a prime example of the words from Lord Acton: ‘Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.’ This latest power grab from the unions is nothing short of totalitarianism. The union heads might think of themselves as the watchmen over the city but who holds the watchmen accountable?

This is a very good reason to allow guns in the work-place. Folks just need to step up and say “take your communism and stick it!” if approached by any of these toads.

I had to join the Musicians Union for our band to play any clubs. The union never did squat for me. The one time a club owner stiffed us, I call the union and complained and was told “Kid, forget about it, it ain’t worth our effort.” by the thug at the other end. I let my membership lapse after that and they came looking for me to be sure I paid up before doing any more gigs. I vowed to never belong to a union again and thirty some odd years later, I never have. We might as well start flying the hammer and sickle if this passes.

So I suppose in their minds intimidation by the union ahem “representatives” is perfectly alright?

I only worked for a union while I was in high school, at a local grocery store chain. The “senior” cashiers who were making $14 per hour (years ago when the minimum wage was $3 something) would become unhinged if any of us “teenboppers” were given one more scheduled hour then they were. I tried to work as many hours as I could. It was an experience that made me think I never wanted to work for a union again. In addition to the hostility from the ladies, I also had to pay one hour’s wage towards union dues per month.

I’m just waiting to see the cards be filled out via the ACORN method, have one person fill them all out from a list. Doesn’t matter if you want it, your name will be added. I can also see professions like pharmacy and other office workers being lumped into new unions because a few people want to unionize at a work place and will get the pressure and thugs out to pressure people into it.

The Unions are what killed GM. We need a national ‘Right to work’ act. What that means is you are not compelled to join the Union if there is one.
