Univision Grills Obama On ‘Fast And Furious’

From the Daily Caller:

Obama slammed on Fast and Furious in Spanish-language TV interview: Shouldn’t you ‘fire’ Holder?

By Matthew Boyle | 09/20/2012

Interviewers on the Spanish-language television network Univision grilled President Barack Obama about the Operation Fast and Furious scandal plaguing his administration in an interview Thursday.

“You told me during an interview that you and Mr. Holder did not authorize the Fast and Furious operation that allowed 2,000 weapons from the United States into Mexico and they were in the drug trafficking [cartels’] hands,” Univision co-host Jorge Ramos asked Obama, according to a translator, during the interview.

“I think that up to 100 Mexicans might have died and also American agent Brian Terry. There’s a report that 14 agents were responsible for the operation but shouldn’t the attorney general, Eric Holder, he should have known about that and if he didn’t, should you fire him?”

Obama responded.. “Well, first of all, I think it’s important to understand that the Fast and Furious program was a field-initiated program, begun under the previous administration,” Obama said.

Which, of course, is untrue.

“When Eric Holder found out about it, he discontinued it. We assigned an inspector general to do a thorough report that was just issued — confirming that in fact Eric Holder did not know about this, that he took prompt action and that the people who did initiate this were held accountable."

How can you confirm whether someone knew something or not? The nspector General’s report did not confirm that Holder did not know. How could it?

"But, what I think is most important is recognizing that we’ve got a challenge in terms of weapons flowing south, and the strategy that was pursued out of Arizona, obviously, was completely wrongheaded.

They were helping the arms to flow south. That is more than "wrongheaded."

"Those folks who were responsible have been held accountable. The question now is, how do we move forward with a strategy that will actually work?” …

In other words, Mr. Obama still wants to find a way to restrict guns rights in the US. Which was the motivation behind Fast & Furious in the first place.

Ramos followed up in English: “But if you have nothing to hide, then why are you not releasing papers to the –”

Obama responded: “The truth is we’ve released thousands of papers. “But not all of them,” Ramos countered.

“We’ve released almost all of them,” Obama said. “The ones that we don’t release, typically, relate to internal communications that were not related to the actual Fast and Furious operation…

As we have noted, the Department Of Justice’s Inspector General himself says they did not.

Through a translator, co-host Maria Elena Salinas followed up: “Let’s have an independent investigation, because at the end of the day, this is the Justice Department investigating its boss and is saying they say is not at fault? Why don’t we have, very briefly, an independent investigation that is not done by the Justice Department?”

Obama answered: “Well, understand that, not only have we had multiple hearings in Congress, but the inspector general is put in place specifically to be independent from the attorney general. This attorney general’s [sic] report was not a whitewash in any way…"

Okay then. That’s settled.

“And we are happy to continue to provide the information that is relevant to this, but one of the things that happens in Washington is, very quickly, these issues become political distractions as opposed to us actually solving the problems that we need to solve,” Obama continued.

What would be bigger "distraction"? Handing over the documents or stonewalling? And stonewalling in defiance of the US Constitution?

“And, this issue of guns flowing south is a hard issue to solve, because this country respects the Second Amendment, we want to protect the rights of gun owners and those who are seeking to purchase firearms, but oftentimes that’s exploited as well. And so we’ve got to make sure we’re properly balancing the rights of U.S. citizens but making sure that we’re also interdicting those arms that would get into the hands of criminals.”

Notice how in almost answer Obama talked about trying to limit the flow of guns into Mexico, and thereby US gun rights. At least implicitly. Which is the mindset that got us Fast & Furious in the first place.

Y’know, I just may have to pay a little more attention to Mr. Ramos and his work – if he has enough backbone to interview the president as “aggressively” as he did, there’s hope that he can become a beacon of light in the Spanish media. Or, am I missing something, fellow readers?

Have a great weekend, keep up the great work Steve!

President Obama Falsely Claims Fast and Furious Program “Begun Under the Previous Administration”

By Jake Tapper | ABC OTUS News –

Asked about the Fast and Furious program at the Univision forum on Thursday, President Obama falsely claimed that the program began under President George W. Bush.

“I think it’s important for us to understand that the Fast and Furious program was a field-initiated program begun under the previous administration,” the president said. “When Eric Holder found out about it, he discontinued it. We assigned a inspector general to do a thorough report that was just issued, confirming that in fact Eric Holder did not know about this, that he took prompt action and the people who did initiate this were held accountable.”

Nerobama has never been aggressively interviewed.

    Not once.

    Not ever.

Certainly not by Univision. Nerobama was allowed to lie to Univision in response to every question, without being challenged on his lies.

Certainly not by Bill O’Reilly, who threw him puff balls. O’Reilly really believes Nerobama is an orthodox Liberal and nice guy––he does not agree that Nerobama is what he is, namely, a dangerous, radical, Saul Alinsky neo-Marxist revolutionary.

Just once I want to see Nerobama interrogated the way conservatives are interrogated … say, by a pit bull lawyer like Mark Levin. Or by a fearless journalist like Chris Plante. Or by somebody knowledgeable and clever like our host, Steve. Or by all three at the same time, with Sean Hannity as moderator. You know, the way conservatives are routinely Pearl-Harbored in interviews and debates.

Yes, that would be something to see.

I’d pay good money to see that.

So pick up the carpet and grab the broom. No justice here for those that were murdered. This makes Waco an Ruby ridge a cake-walk. This was done with the full intent to undermine our 2nd amendment with rage. Shameful. With every Barry lie, another border agent dies. Less people would have died if only Barry went with unconsitutional U.N. treaties.
Giving up our sovereignty and our God given rights is this man’s mission.
