Obama/Media Fantasy: Palin’s Iraq ‘Lies’

Once again the Obama camp sticks to the important issues.

From their relentless smear monger slaveys at the Associated Press:

Gov. Sarah Palin, of Alaska, smiles as she talks to a soldier from the Alaska National Guard. The governor’s visit was part of a two-day tour of Kuwait that took her to various bases around Kuwait. Photographer:

Obama camp suggests lies over Palin visit to Iraq

WASHINGTON (AP) — The question of whether Sarah Palin has ever been to Iraq pushed Obama aides Saturday to accuse the McCain campaign of outright lies, distortions and distractions to the American people…

Palin made a well-documented trip to Kuwait and Germany last year to visit U.S. troops, and over time, the governor and her staff have revealed she also visited Canada and Mexico. Meanwhile, her aides clarified that a purported visit to Ireland was little more than a refueling stop during her trip to the Middle East.

On Saturday, a Palin aide told The Associated Press the governor also set foot in Iraq during her July 2007 trip to see members of the Alaska National Guard, although the campaign has not emphasized it since the visit was brief. The aide, who demanded anonymity before answering the question, said Palin visited a “military outpost” on the Iraq side of the Kuwait/Iraq border.

That answer appears to contradict one provided to The Boston Globe, which reported Saturday that McCain-Palin aides had twice revised their description of Palin’s visit to Iraq.

The newspaper said unnamed aides initially explained that Palin had visited a “military outpost” inside Iraq. The Globe said campaign aides and members of the Alaska National Guard subsequently explained that she did not venture beyond the Iraq/Kuwait border when she visited the Khabari Alawazem Crossing on July 25, 2007.

Lt. Col. Dave Osborn, commander of the 3d Battalion, 207th Infantry of the Alaska National Guard, who was in charge of the 570 local troops serving in Kuwait and Iraq, said Palin did not cross in Iraq…

That discrepancy prompted a blistering memorandum to campaign reporters by aides to Democratic nominee Barack Obama

“Since naming Gov. Palin as their vice presidential nominee, the McCain campaign has distorted, distracted and outright lied to the American people about her record in a desperate attempt to hide the fact that a McCain/Palin administration would be nothing more than a continuation of the failed Bush policies of the last eight years,” the memo read

And, for the record, here is the reference article from the DNC/New York Times owned Boston Globe:

Palin camp clarifies extent of Iraq trip

Says she never ventured beyond Kuwait border

WASHINGTON – Sarah Palin’s visit to Iraq in 2007 consisted of a brief stop at a border crossing between Iraq and Kuwait, the vice presidential candidate’s campaign said yesterday, in the second official revision of her only trip outside North America.

Following her selection last month as John McCain’s running mate, [unnamed] aides said Palin had traveled to Ireland, Germany, Kuwait, and Iraq to meet with members of the Alaska National Guard. During that trip she was said to have visited a “military outpost” inside Iraq. [Unnamed purported member of the Palin] campaign has since repeated that Palin’s foreign travel included an excursion into the Iraq battle zone.

But in response to queries about the details of her trip, [now named] campaign aides and National Guard officials in Alaska said by telephone yesterday that she did not venture beyond the Kuwait-Iraq border when she visited Khabari Alawazem Crossing, also known as “K-Crossing,” on July 25, 2007.

Asked to clarify where she traveled in Iraq, Palin’s spokeswoman, Maria Comella, confirmed that “She visited a military outpost on the other side of the Kuwait-Iraq border.”

It was the second such clarification in as many weeks of the itinerary of what Palin has called “the trip of a lifetime.” Earlier, the campaign acknowledged that Palin made only a refueling stop in Ireland.

In her interview with ABC News Thursday night, Palin did not mention Iraq in describing the visit, saying only that she went to Kuwait and Germany to meet with US forces…

Er, so exactly where are the lies here?

The only named source in these two articles says that “that she did not venture beyond the Kuwait-Iraq border when she visited Khabari Alawazem Crossing, also known as “K-Crossing,” on July 25, 2007.”

So where is the lie, apart from claims made by anonymous sources that do not appear anywhere else?

Where are the direct quotes from Governor Palin or anyone else with a name?

Is this serious journalism? Has our media really come to this?

And note how both articles repeated this outrage against all decency:

It was the second such clarification in as many weeks of the itinerary…

The clarification was what? That some (again unnamed) aide supposedly said they went to Ireland, while it turns out that they only stopped to refuel in Ireland? Wow, what a damning admission.

(Remember, this is the self same watchdog media that promulgated as historical fact Mrs. Clinton’s preposterous claims about having ended the war in Northern Ireland, when in truth she had merely attended a long-standing tea party with some wives in the area.)

We say to hell with Democrat Party’s paid stooges, the Associated Press and the Boston Globe.

They count on their ability to put out lies faster than they can be rebutted.

Hopefully with this election cycle the American public will finally realize what outright propagandists they are and have always been, and will put our one party media out of business once and for all.

(By the way, check out the ‘related article’ links below for a small sampling of Mr. Johnson’s unbiased “journalism.”)
