US Hits Innocent ‘Tribal Elders’ In Somalia
From those defenders of the faith highly trained tribal anthropologists at the Associated Press:
US says it hits Somali terrorist target
By MOHAMED OLAD HASSAN
MOGADISHU, Somalia - The U.S. launched an airstrike Monday on a Somali town held by Islamic extremists to go after a group of terrorist suspects, U.S. defense officials said.
Three missiles hit Dobley, a town four miles from the Kenyan border, destroying a home and seriously injured eight people, police and witnesses said. The remnants of an Islamic force that had once ruled much of southern Somalia took over Dobley last week.
“It was a deliberate, precise strike against a known terrorist and his associates,” one U.S. military official said in Washington, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to comment on the record.
He gave few other details, except to say the targets were believed staying in building known to be used regularly by terrorist suspects…
Clan elder Ahmed Nur Dalab said a senior Islamic official, Hassan Turki, was in town Sunday to mediate between his fighters and a militia loyal to the government. Turki’s forces took over Dobley last week.
In early 2007, Somali troops and their Ethiopian allies drove out a radical Islamic group to which Turki is allied that had taken over much of southern Somalia.
The Islamic forces have fought to regain power, and appear to be gathering momentum again in recent weeks. On Monday, the group overran Bur Haqaba — a strategic hilltop town about 37 miles from the provincial capital of Baidoa that had been one of the group’s main bases in the south. They released prisoners from jail and killed a police chief before retreating, witnesses said.
Last month, they briefly took over the southern Somalia town of Dinsor, killing nine government soldiers…
Who says they were “Islamic terrorists”?
They could have just been innocent “tribal elders.”
Do note that this town is right next door to Wajir, Kenya, where Mr. Obama was having his photo op in “Muslim garb.”
Also note that the author of this article has pretty much the same name as the man dressing Mr. Obama in the photograph: Mahmed Hassan.
Small world, huh?

“US says” it hits Somali terrorist target? Do you think that headline would be on a report where the US says they bombed innocent women and children? Hell no. It wouldn’t matter what the “US says” then.

It doesn’t matter what the U.S. says now. I hate to say it but the U.S. has at least one thing in common with Hillary Clinton at this point….people either love her or hate her, and nothing is going to change anybody’s minds on the matter. The people who love this country will continue to love her. Those that hate her will continue to hate her.
The U.S. could cure AIDS, cancer, and herpes, eradicate mallaria, tuberculosis and influenza, solve the Arab-Israeli Conflict, end the Sunni-Shiite split in Islam, break the power of dictatorial regimes around the world, bring China and Russia into the international system as allies rather than adversaries, end slavery, the child-sex trade, the drug trade, poverty, nuclear proliferation, and provide a daily allotment of ice cream to the world’s children all on the American taxpayer’s dime and the American soldier’s back, and do all of it tomorrow, and much of the world would still hate us, if only because we did what they could not, and likely made a tidy little profit doing it.
There is no way to make the world love us. Despite the rhetoric, the fatwas, the ranting and chanting and flag-burning, it is not our culture the world hates, it is our power. We are THE power on the planet, economically, militarily, and therefore politically. The possession of such power does not engender love, it breeds resentment and envy. We are a young nation with more power and influence than the great civilizations that preceded us could even dream of having. The great empires of the past; the Egyptians, the Chinese, the Indians, the Romans, the Mongols, the Persians, the Ottomans, the Spanish, the French, the British; none wielded power anywhere near that of the modern United States. And the rise of that power was so swift, the reach of that power so apparently omnipotent, the influence of that power so seemingly irresistable, it is little wonder the world has reacted as it did.
It didn’t help that our ascension from superpower to global hyper-power was overseen by a President with more interest in his interns than formulating a clear philosophy on the proper role and utility of America’s power. Clinton was erratic in his actions, inconsistent in his message, and indecisive in command. We have only to look to Somalia, Rwanda, the Sudan, Kosovo, and Iraq for all the evidence we will ever need of this. Sadly, these are the same examples our enemies will point to as proof the United States can be hoodwinked, beaten, driven out, or kept out.
Not that Bush has been a great deal better, but at least he is willing do something other than run or defer to the U.N.
In any case, we shouldn’t obsess over why they hate us. It’s our power, nothing more, nothing less, a power they are determined to break, a power we should be even more determined to retain. For it is American power, not Barack Obama, that is the hope of the world.

The only thing people respect in that part of the world is power. If you show weakness, you become a doable target. If someone tells you different, they’re either uneducated in the matter or an educated liar. The question is why do we pussyfoot with our enemies and give a damn what they label us? There’s no foreign enemy as dangerous as an internal one. We’ve got people with Jane Fonda brains running our government and we’re a lot weaker than a glance at our military would have us believe.
BTW, I’ve had enough with generous surgical bombings. Let’s start putting terror to terrorist and those that protect them.
