IRNA: US-Iran Talks “Great Victory For Tehran”

From Iran’s government outlet IRNA:

Syrian analyst: Iran-US talks a great victory for Tehran’s diplomacy

Damascus, July 24, IRNA – Head of Political Studies at Al-Sharq Research Center in Syria Samir Al-Taqi said on Tuesday that the current direct Iran-US talks on Iraq’s security is regarded as a great victory for Tehran’s diplomacy.

In an exclusive interview with IRNA, he said that direct Iran-US talks shows Iran’s significant role in Iraq’s development along with US confusion.

The US has lodged a number of allegations and accusations against Iran but has no alternative but to hold talks with Tehran which indicates the importance of Iran’s role, he said.

Iraq’s problems would be resolved through firm determination of the US officials in direct talks with Iran, he said.

Current direct talks between Iran and the US on Iraq’s security would be a significant move to this end, he pointed out. ..

The second round of Iran-US talks, similar to the first round, is being held on a formal request by Washington.

This is what they are hearing on the fabled “Arab Street”:

Iraqis shout anti-US slogans in Baghdad.

But what harm can there ever be in sitting down with our enemies?
