US Taxpayers Are Funding ‘Obama TV’

Do You Want Your OTV?

May 20, 2009

On April 27, President Obama welcomed the University of Connecticut Lady Huskies, who had just won the NCAA women’s basketball championship.

After the event, President Obama went to the White House basketball court to shoot hoop with the Lady Huskies. The White House press corps was not allowed to attend.

Reads the print pool report from that day: "After shaking hands with the team’s parents and members of Congress who showed up, the president walked the team over to his basketball court and shot hoops. The pool was held back from the stroll down the drive and around the corner, and couldn’t see the court. Poolers could hear periodic cheering coming from the other side of the bushes."

Read the TV pool report: "Your Pool was not allowed to go over and shoot POTUS with the team shooting hoops.  We protested loudly."

Now we know why: Obama White House officials decided to do their own media report on the visit, complete with cuts, interviews, and chyrons identifying who’s speaking.

Also, just like a network, they have their own little logo!

It’s perfectly fine, of course, for the White House to put out its own version of events — but is it right to do so by preventing actual reporters from covering something? (Even something like a pickup basketball game).

Do Obama White House officials think their media coverage isn’t flattering enough?

Is the goal to ultimately replace the pesky photographers who film what they want to and not what they’re told to (not to mention the annoying reporters who ask uncomfortable questions about, say, detainee policy and bank bailouts)?

Do you want your OTV? (I’ll bet there are a few takers out there.)

Mr. Tapper has written up something that we have noticed since Mr. Obama’s ascension inauguration. (The above images are our screen grabs of the Obama White House’s YouTube channel.)

And we’re not sure we would call it “cute.” In fact, we’re not even sure that this is legal, since government money is not supposed to be used to propagandize US citizens.

But, of course, Mr. Obama makes his own rules.

(Thanks to Colonel1961 for the heads up.)

A mere sycophantic media wasn’t enough for the Big O – he has to have complete control. Submit!

    • MinnesotaRush says:

Kinda like his need to have a “Civilian Security Force” funded and equipped as well as our military, or even moreso!

  2. proreason says:

Propaganda mainlining. This is about as sinister as it can get.

    Until they master thought control.

    • Liberals Demise says:

Reminds me of that old show back in the 60’s “The Outer Limits” where they seize control of your TV for 60 minutes.
      Subliminal messages?
Just in time for the Obama Youth Nazi Corps!!

  3. U NO HOO says:

Yep, “propaganda” came immediately to my mind.

    Can a half-white man jump?

  4. TwilightZoned says:

“Until they master thought control.” Subliminal messages are not too far fetched under this administration.

  5. wirenut says:

Just what kind of reception will I get on my old half black and half white TV??? Do I need a government supplied black box to get it? Can you request no audio and video too? HI-DEF…..NO THANKS! Well, it’s our money.

  6. VMAN says:

All this (obama) talk about (is great) subliminal messages (praise him) is absolutely (bow down) ridiculous (to him) Frankly I (death to) don’t want (his enemies) to hear it.

  7. Anonymoose says:

Goodness, I really have fallen through the looking glass.

Forgive me if I go off on a tangent for a second, but it’ll make sense. I keep thinking of that “scientific study” done last summer that said conservatives were more fearful than liberals, which got plenty of hoopla. The study was based on wiring people up to test their responses to various pictures. The pictures were of normal things like flowers and trees interspersed with images of things like a wound crawling with maggots or someone’s bloodied face.

Now someone getting up and running out of the room would be abnormally “fearful,” but wouldn’t it actually be *normal* to feel some shock or surprise at seeing pictures like that and making the little needle twitch? And conversely, isn’t it very abnormal for the liberals not to show ANY emotion to such images?

Maybe this is the whole liberal problem in a nutshell, their heads are wired wrong–they act like they care when there’s nothing? So damn the consequences, all that matters is setting things “right” to fill that big empty hole in themselves and not be guilty of anything.

So we end up with things like Obama TV and the endless apologies and the country going to hell in a basket because a bunch of liberals are trying to pretend they are well adjusted. Phony People for a Phony President.

  8. 12 Gauge Rage says:

Obama’s handlers want to make sure that he’s always presented in a positive light and never making a mistake. Perhaps this is why the press has been limited in their time and interaction with him. Because the longer they’re around him the more likely he is to slip up and his shortcomings get revealed. But just you watch, when the time comes for the annual physical, his actual bodily condition will be withheld so as not to make him appear sickly. What’ll you wager that his lungs are a wreck from all that smoking like a chimney? JFK was a president in frail health but his image makers knew just what to do to make him appear young and virile.

  9. mathews says:

clear violation of the Hatch Act which has been upheld by SCOTUS, where’s FBI/Justice when you need them, is it possible for a citizen lawsuit?

  10. canary says:

The story I heard twice on the news that the White House takes the footage and photos with their own photogs, then sell it in package deals to the media? So, I’m confused as to exactly what’s going on here.

  11. Confucius says:

    It’s amazing how many shows starting with “O” are repellant . . . Oprah, Oxygen, OTV . . . .
