Wow, the genius of this plan! These people are using western iniquity, greed, and materialism to fuel terrorism. To get them to stop will buy them off! While were at it why don’t we settle all our internal debates this way as well. Got a problem with pesky anti-abortion protesters? Just give them coupons for 3 free planned parenthood baby killings. Also the government should spend a few billion to ask people why they don’t want so much government spending!

This whole plan hinges on underestimating their hate and their “faith.” There is no surer way to lose a war.

Holbrooke reminds me of the nutty professor who pops up on Fox News once in a while to argue in very reasonable tones that 9/11 was an inside job.

The nutty professor has reams of statistics and tons of argumnents that he presents with a calm, authoritative and reassuring manner.

When O’Reilly points out that 80% of Americans think that he is a fringe kook, the nutty professor simply says “no, you are the fringe kooks. Look at all of the eveidence I’ve presented. History will bear me out.”.

There is no way to persuade kooks like Holbrooke and Obamy that they are idiots. And somehow, thier personal characteristics have floated them to positiions of astonishing influence.

We might as well be led by the Monty Python troupe..
