These 50,000, unlike the Somalis and Palestinians, are drawn annually " from random selection among all entries to persons who meet strict eligibility requirements from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States." Evidently, we don't have enough immigrants this year from Libya, Morocco, Niger, Somalia, Zimbabwe, Algeria, Egypt, Kenya, Afghanistan, Burma, Iran, Iraq, North Korea,Saudi Arabia, and Yemen. There are many others, but this is a representative sample. Is this a great country, or what? We should be grateful since the majority of the Iraqi Palestinians will be resettled in southern California. This state has shown unmeasurable skill in immigrant resettlement in the recent past, to say nothing of their limitless state budget surplus. Sounds like an all around plan for success to me! California has been the one state to solve that pesky assimilation problem that's plagued so many other states. California will have those Iraqi refugees speaking Spanish in no time.
