Waters Demands $1 Trillion + Jobs Program

Just two weeks after saying that the "Tea Party can go straight to hell," NBC’s Meet The Press rewards Maxine Waters with an interview, via Mediaite:

Rep. Maxine Waters: We Need To Spend A Trillion Or More On A Jobs Program

by Josh Feldman | September 4th, 2011

On Meet the Press today, Congresswoman Maxine Waters called for President Obama to take a more forceful approach to a jobs program, and likely made Republicans drop their jaws with the amount of money she argued the United States should invest in such a plan.

David Gregory asked Waters if it would be possible for the president to take on an ambitious role in working on job creation in Congress, given the recent partisan fights over the debt ceiling. Waters put the impetus on Obama to take the first step.

“The president must be bold. I agree that he must have a jobs program, he must create jobs. I’m talking about a jobs program of a trillion dollars or more. We’ve got to put Americans to work. That’s the only way to revitalize this economy. When people work, they earn money, they spend that money, and that’s what gets the economy up and going.”

Waters insisted any kind of effective jobs plan could not “shrink” to the demands of Republicans or give tax breaks to those in the highest income tax brackets.

After all, when have "tax breaks" ever grown an economy?

But don’t think Mr. Obama isn’t listening. There are sure to be trillions of dollars in new spending for all of his loyal foot soldiers.

By the way, Ms. Waters already has at least one federal jobs training center named after her – in Los Angeles. The Maxine Waters Employment Preparation Center.

You’ve probably met dozens of people who have benefitted from the job training they received there. We haven’t, either.

If the Federal Government is going to spend another Trillion dollars on some so-called jobs plan why not just write checks to people. Divide a trillion dollars into all of the unemployed people and write them a check. This would stimulate the economy but I realize Obama’s union people wouldn’t benefit, not to mention the campaign donations that wouldn’t funnel in from union dues. Funny, they use trickle-down economics when funneling themselves campaign donations but God forbid they use trickle-down economics to get the entire economy moving forward. This tells me they know how to fix this but are deliberaltely destroying the U.S.

    Dear Maxine,
Even if you Democrats didn’t plan on stealing the money to finance nerobama’s doomed-to-fail re-election campaign, you can’t “get the economy up and going” by taking money from those who have produced a good/service to earn it and give it to make-work government employees who provide nothing of value to the economy. Simply taking from my pocket to line another’s pocket adds no value and creates no wealth. But you already know that, don’t you.

Maxine Waters is an ignorant and deluded twit. Her home district is a disaster, even after her twenty-plus year reign. All ‘progressives’ are financially illiterate. They have no clue how much a trillion is, or even what money is in reality. Money is not wealth, it’s only a paper IOU. The more IOUs are printed, the less they’re worth. If Democrats had their way we would be like pre-war Germany or present-day Zimbabwe, where the currency is worth about as much as toilet paper.

  4. untrainable says:

A trillion dollars for another jobs program? Here’s my counter-offer Maxine. I’ll give you 50 bucks and a nice oatmeal cookie if you promise to go away and never return to the public square.

On the other hand, Maxine Waters is a gift that keeps on giving, in the spirit of Joe Bite-me. So maybe it’s worth keeping her around just as an illustrative fountain of stupidity.

  5. JohnMG says:

Millions, billions, trillions quintillions, Brazillians………..these are just numbers to Mad Maxine. She hasn’t a clue as to the amount of money that amounts to since she can’t count beyond ten if she’s wearing shoes. But she knows who her audience is, and that’ll get her re-elected, which is all she gives a sh!t about.

How about we put this in perspective for the daft, darling, doofus that is Maxine Waters. Let’s say you consider $100,000.00 annually a lot of money. (I do) Pay attention, Maxine. If I was to earn 100k this year (I won’t even come close) I’d have to live for another one million–that’s right friends and neighbors, one million–more years before I’d earned one trillion bucks.

But then Maxine has never EARNED a living since she took her first breath, much less since she first got elected. So considering she is compensated a rounded-up 200k/yr for what she calls representing her people, she’d have to get re-elected another 500,000 times to earn that much.

Thankfully even that ugly old crone won’t achieve that milestone although her dead corpse might still be voting Democrat then.

  6. GetBackJack says:

The #1 “jobs program” in the world is GETTING THE HELL OUT OF AMERICA’S BUSINESS

We could create $1 trillion in revenue in nothing flat and achieve 98% emplyment if Maxine Waters would get the hell out of the way.

But this is about looting the Treasury like the Praetorian Guard, not creating “jobs”.

  7. BillK says:

Union jobs at “prevailing wage” of course; we couldn’t have the creation of non-“livable wage” jobs, either.

  8. sticks says:

Our rulers casually speak of a trillion here a trillion there as if trillions are just billions with a tr instead of a b. I think I read this illustration on this site a year or two ago, but don’t know who wrote it so hopefully I got it right. A billion dollars if in a stack of million dollar bills would be four inches high (I don’t know if thats accurate, but lets just go with it). A trillion is a thousand billion so to make a stack worth a trillion it would be four thousand inches high which equals basically 333 feet. A football field is 300 hundred feet from one end zone to the other so imagine yourself at one end zone line, on one hand you have a billion dollar stack which goes 4 inches on the other hand you have a trillion dollar stack which goes 33 feet past the other end zone line. Thats the difference (I added the foot ball field part). And Maxine wants to take another trillion away from future taxpayers and use it for more government union worker jobs.

    • Mae says:

“Football, you talking about football,” Maxine asks. “I don’t need no stinkin’ football. Football can go to hell. I’m talking about jobs! Oh, you mean football playing is a job, just a well-paying one? Maybe they can help us out with a new stadium in L.A. Give a lot of people jobs. Oh, you mean they already are helping Obama with a couple million in donations for his 2012 campaign to get us jobs? But I’m talking about a couple trillion!”

    • sticks says:

      ROFL very funny Mae

  9. GnuCarSmell says:

David Gregory squandered a priceless media moment. He should have asked Mad Maxine: “A trillion dollars? That’s a huge sum. Do you know how many zero’s are in a trillion?”

The blank stare would have said everything we need to know about Maxine Waters and her party.

  10. Mithrandir says:

    1. Read the bill this time stupid Republicans!

    2. EXPLAIN the bill this time stupid Republicans! It’s not a jobs bill, it’s a union voter stimulus bill.

    3. Stick to your talking points stupid Republicans! It’s a TAX INCREASE that is paid for by your children.

    4. Blame the Democrats stupid Republicans! Forget all the philosophizing….Democrats caused the housing crisis, Democrats gave the LAST STIMULUS money away for ridiculous projects, Democrats covered up the economic collapse by bailing out their buddies.
