WH: The GOP Pledge To Special Interests

This is not from Obama Organizing For America. This is from the taxpayer funded White House website:

The Congressional Republican Pledge to Special Interests

Posted by Dan Pfeiffer on September 22, 2010

Tonight, we learned more details about the Congressional Republican agenda – their “Pledge to America.” With this plan, they have made clear that they want to take America back to the same failed economic policies that caused this recession.  Instead of charting a new course, Congressional Republicans doubled down on the same ideas that hurt America’s middle class.

Isn’t funny how the famously anti-war Mr. Obama never lets up on his class warfare. Oh, and never mind that his administration has done more to destroy the middle class in the last year and a half than anyone would have thought possible.

Here’s what they made clear:

  • Tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires by borrowing $700 billion we can’t afford;

Notice that the ‘White House’ is claiming there are new tax cuts, whereas the GOP is only trying to keep the tax system we have had for the last ten years.

And what we can’t afford is to take another $700 billion dollars out of the private sector and give it to Mr. Obama’s constituents. That might grow the Democrat Party, but it does not grow jobs or the economy.

  • Tax hikes for 110 million middle-class families and millions of small businesses;

We would be interested to hear the White House substantiate this claim. Where exactly are these “tax hikes”?

  • Cutting rules and oversight for special interests like big oil, big insurance, credit card and mortgage companies and Wall Street banks;

This is how the Obama administration always portrays capitalism, our economic system – the most successful economic system in the history of the world – as evil "special interests." This is Saul Alinsky, this is Reverend Wright talking.

But it’s no wonder that Mr. Obama can’t end the recession or grow jobs. You wouldn’t expect a man who hates flowers to be a good gardener.

  • Doing nothing to stop the outsourcing of American jobs or to end tax breaks that are given to companies that ship jobs overseas;
  • All while adding trillions to our nation’s deficit.

Is this a joke? Mr. Obama is accusing the GOP of "adding trillions to the nation’s deficit"? Isn’t that what he calls ‘stimulus’?

Their plan is also notable for what it doesn’t talk about: protecting Social Security and Medicare from privatization schemes; investing in high-quality education for our nation’s children; growing key industries like clean energy and manufacturing; and rebuilding our crumbling roads, rails and runways.

Whereas Mr. Obama has addressed each and every one of these issues with tremendous success. Which is why we no longer have a Social Security/Medicare crisis. Why are schools are doing such a great job educating our children.

And why we have such a burgeoning ‘green’ economy and our current manufacturing boom. Likewise, everywhere you look you see the shiny new infrastructure that $1 trillion taxpayer dollars bought us.

This is the same agenda that caused the deepest recession since the Great Depression, costing 8 million jobs, wiping out trillions in family wealth and setting middle-class families back.   Instead of a pledge to the American people, Congressional Republicans made a pledge to the big special interests to restore the same economic ideas that benefited them at the expense of middle-class families.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle half-black, this is the same President who asked for ‘new ideas’ and who promised to put partisan politics behind us.

This is also the same President whose every program, every bailout, is aimed at his constituents, his foot soldiers.

This is the same President who has funneled untold trillions of taxpayer dollars to his special interests, while the rest of the country is going to the poor house.

    Wouldn’t it be WONDERFUL and certainly UNIQUE if republicans would simply repeat the interspersed comments in this article from S&L and put them in the form of a TV ad!! But then, that wouldn’t be “bipartisan”, would it.

    Orwell nailed it.

    So, acoording to the WH, the American people are a ‘special interest’ group?

    • NoNeoCommies says:

      Yep! That is it in a nutshell!
      “Big Public” is just as evil as “Big Oil”, “Big Tobacco”, etc.
      They cannot be allowed to run the country.

    borrowing $700 billion we can’t afford That $700 billion is OUR money. Even Chris Mathews (alternate universe?) gets that. So the choice according to the WH is borrow $700B that we can’t afford, or steal $700B from the American People that they can’t afford to lose and spend it on DEMOCRAT special interests. Here’s a novel idea… STOP SPENDING MONEY THAT WE DON’T HAVE. Morons.

    Subprime Mortgage Crisis, 2008, a complete result of subdizing a special interest that could not afford the entitlement, specifically on the basis of “fairness, equality, and non-discrimination”. Subrpime Mortgage Crisis, 2008, national debt explodes 2009-2010 – an Obama-Democrat production, with assist from the Ruling Class. Now you’re telling us it’s our responsibility to clean up your mess with the endentured servitude of crushing taxes for decades.

    You lie, sir.

      TN: “Now you’re telling us it’s our responsibility to clean up your mess….”

      Perhaps it’s time to send a message to the Liberal robber gangs. We will not stand still while they saddle us with this massive debt that they created. We’re going to fight fire with fire. Repudiate the public debt that they incurred. The Ruling Class shall be made to repay the debt from their private fortunes.
