Her premiums were *only* $700 a month, and it didn’t cover cancer treatment?

That wasn’t much of a policy to begin with, I’m afraid. The self-pay portion of my group policy went UP $700 a month in the last year … and I have an exclusion on medical care on my spine (covered by Worker’s Comp, another whole adventure!).

“Colorado cancer woman” is probably a mishmash of stories, somewhere a woman paid $700 a month for a not-so-great insurance policy, and somewhere a woman couldn’t get cancer treatment. Best to put that theoretical person in Colorado as it’s sort of close to the geographic middle of the nation, not as polarizing or stereotypical as someone in California (illegal alien) or Florida (wealthy snowbird) [pick any state and place a stereotype here] might be.

If she doesn’t exist then she should. Because we need to trust our President, and he needed a good story to illustrate his grand vision for our future as his needy children.

I really think it’s fishy that the WH decides to use someone in a speech but then refuses to disclose any information. Maybe the “woman” is a combination of bits of a group of people with a good amount of pure fiction thrown in or maybe just 100% pure fiction.

As to the writer’s comments about the “Cadillac-driving welfare queen”, I see them just about every day coming through the drive thru at the pharmacy, usually picking up their vicodin and/or anti-anxiety pills for them and the ritatlin or concerta for the pile of unruly kids in the back seats of the escalade. All while talking on expensive cell phones and covered in alot of cheasy gold jewelery. And of course all of the prescriptions are being paid for by medicaid and therefore are.
