What’s Wrong With These Pictures? – Mrs Bush

Wire service photos from Mrs. Laura Bush’s trip through the Middle East to promote breast cancer awareness:

US First Lady Laura Bush (2nd R) sits next to breast cancer survivors during the Pink Majlis and Conversation with survivors at the Sheikh Khalifa Medical Centre in Abu Dhabi. Bush on Monday met breast cancer survivors in the United Arab Emirates on a tour to raise awareness of the leading cause of death among women in the United States and Middle East.

U.S. first lady Laura Bush checks out a head scarf presented to her by Saudi Dr. Samia al-Amoudi, left, during participation in a ‘Breaking the Silence’ coffee with a Cancer Survivors Group, Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, in Jiddah, Saudi Arabia. Laura Bush’s trip to Saudi Arabia, her first to the oil-rich kingdom, is part of a regional tour that aims to highlight the need for countries to share their resources and unite in the fight against breast cancer.

Of course we all realize that Mrs. Bush has to be the gracious guest.

But however well intentioned, I think these photos send absolutely the wrong message.
