White House Not Ruling Out Sending Obama To Ferguson

From an irony proof reporter at The Hill:

White House hasn’t ruled out sending Obama to Ferguson

By Amie Parnes | August 19, 2014

The White House has weighed sending President Obama to Ferguson, Mo., and has not ruled out a visit in upcoming weeks, according to sources familiar with the internal decisionmaking.

For now, the White House believes a trip by Obama to Ferguson would do more harm than good, by diverting resources on the ground at a pivotal time for law enforcement…

Wait just a cotton picking minute. (If that isn’t too racist.) That excuse wasn’t allowed to fly when President Bush didn’t break off his vacation to visiting New Orleans soon enough after Katrina.

A presidential trip would require heavy security at a time when state and local authorities, along with the Missouri National Guard, are dealing with demonstrations, protests and looting…

Just like during Katrina.

On Tuesday, Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), who has spoken with the president in recent days, called an Obama visit a “bad idea” because of the strain it would put on local police. “A presidential visit requires a lot of security from local officials,” McCaskill said on MSNBC’s "Morning Joe."

“Right now out local officials have their hands full. It is a very bad time for a presidential visit for the practical reasons — many of these people are not getting enough sleep. We are really taxing all of the jurisdictions on the police forces.” …

Is that what she said about Bush when he didn’t immediately break off his vacation to visit New Orleans? We seem to recall that back then she sang a different tune.

In this context, who exactly is “The White House”? Is it the kitchen, or the Lincoln bedroom that makes these policy decisions for Obama? Who comprises the “White House”? Who are “sources familiar with the internal decisionmaking”?

Just another subtle, or maybe not so subtle, way of taking responsibility for any decisions made about anything away from Obama and placing them squarely on the shoulders of some nebulous unidentifyable entity. Just as long as everything bad can be blamed on someone other than the president. How about this for a headline? “Obama is still thinking about doing something about Ferguson Riots. He has his best people working on a strategy and a schedule that will be both opportunistic and ineffectual, but will make for good optics and a memorable soundbite.”

Why!?!? Why does President D-Bag need to get involved in this situation? Al Sharpton is already there, therefore the ‘White House” is already well represented. Perhaps O’Bambi should go back to perfecting his putt…..
