I love the whole logic in throwing away these funds.

The U.S. government is an arrogant force responsible for destroying the planet because we have a high standard of living through industrial ingenuity - and global warming is somehow making the third world miserable - not war, not bad governments, not poor crop rotation - but the US (implied, but never stated). Despite the fact that we use our own land to produce a glut of food and it works fine.

So the American government (not China, not India: read: America) should take a portion of the salaries stolen from working Americans and use them to finance social projects in Islamic and North African countries that frankly aren't going anywhere morally, socially, technologically. Countries that don't like the U.S. or the concept of "the West" anyway.

Did I mention a third of Jordanians support suicide bombing? I guess it doesn't matter - we're doing ourselves in well enough.

Again, the perils of using idealism to dictate foreign policy.

In the crudest terms, it means "blame whitey" and "get free stuff from working America because the U.S. must apologize for its existence and interference with the world."

Forget environmentalists acting on their own accord to fund these projects. Forget using capitalism to manage power use and infrastructure. And forget private charities. All of these things must be funded, by force, from the sane people of the world. And not for something like alleviating starvation or disease - but for freaking solar power.

Maybe there's a ray of light here somewhere (get it, heh heh, "ray of light". There's no end to it, is there?)

Maybe the new Climate Change Religion will supplant the Religion of Peace.

If it did, we could be beheaded for a better cause than some 1200 year old pervert's musings.
