WP: Does Obama Condone Chavez’s Acts?

An amazing admission from the Washington Post:

Is Silence Consent?

The Obama administration’s ‘engagement’ policy is convenient for Hugo Chávez’s latest crackdown.

Sunday, May 24, 2009

WHILE THE United States and Venezuela’s neighbors silently stand by, Hugo Chávez’s campaign to destroy his remaining domestic opposition continues. On Thursday night state intelligence police raided the Caracas offices of Guillermo Zuloaga, the president of the country’s last independent broadcast network, Globovision. They claimed to be looking for evidence of irregularities in the car dealership that Mr. Zuloaga also runs. In fact this was a thinly disguised escalation of an attack that Mr. Chávez launched this month against Globovision. The channel has been officially accused of "inciting panic," based on its accurate reporting of a mild May 4 earthquake in Caracas; under the regime’s draconian media control law it could be shut down. Few doubt that that is Mr. Chávez’s intent: Two years ago he revoked the license of the country’s most popular television network after a similarly trumped-up campaign.

To recap: In February Mr. Chávez eliminated the limit on his tenure as president after a one-sided referendum campaign that included ugly attacks on Venezuela’s Jewish community. Since then he has imprisoned or orchestrated investigations against most of the country’s leading opposition figures, including three of the five opposition governors elected last year. The elected mayor of Maracaibo, who was the leading opposition candidate when Mr. Chávez last ran for president, was granted asylum in Peru last month after authorities sought his arrest on dubious tax charges. The National Assembly, controlled by Mr. Chávez, is considering legislation that would eliminate collective bargaining and replace independent trade unions with "worker’s councils" controlled by the ruling party. Another new law would eliminate foreign financing for independent non-government groups.

This is hardly the first time that a Latin American caudillo has tried to eliminate peaceful opponents: Mr. Chávez is following a path well worn by the likes of Juan Perón and Alberto Fujimori — not to mention his mentor, Fidel Castro. But this may be the first time that the United States has watched the systematic destruction of a Latin American democracy in silence. As Mr. Chávez has implemented the "third phase" of his self-styled revolution, the Obama administration has persisted with the policy of quiet engagement that the president promised before taking office.

"We need to find a space in which we can actually have a conversation, and we need to find ways to enhance our levels of confidence," Assistant Secretary of State Thomas A. Shannon Jr. said two weeks ago, echoing earlier remarks by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. We have no objection to dialogue with Mr. Chávez. But isn’t it time to start talking about preserving independent television stations, opposition political leaders, trade unions and human rights groups — before it is too late?

What a shocking editorial from the Washington Post.

Luckily, they buried it on one of the least read news days of the year.

But isn’t it funny how the Post refuses to recognize the obvious parallels between Mr. Chavez’s actions and those of Mr. Obama?

You would think that would at least cross their collective minds, if only as a possible explanation for Mr. Obama’s (ahem) ‘silence.’

I only get the Post on Sundays for the coupons since the Times in it’s infinite wisdom doesn’t put any in there but I digress. After seeing this I went back and read it as I generally only read Travel, the Metro (I like to look at the anniversary pics where the couples have been married for 40 or more years and put in their wedding pics-I am such a dork I know). I was surprised to see this as well and wonder if someone must have been on vacation for this editorial to have actually made it into the paper. However, what the article misses is the attempt by most on the left to have some sort of fairness doctrine (or whatever they want to call it here) so that once again the dims and the media have their own echo chamber just like Hugo.

The Washington Post isn’t about to go bankrupt so they still care a bit about their (in their own minds) “independence”.

That’s why they have issued this tepid criticism of the latest Obamy Chavez power grab.

Obama’s taking notes from Chavez, biding his time until he can orchestrate his own takeover of opposition media. Obama and Chavez are ‘buds’ – to the ‘soul’ (if either has one). That small smile on Obama’s face says it all – it is sweet, silent approval and encouragement.

It may also be that the mental illness of the writer is far more serious than originally thought.

By that I mean that they can clearly see that taking over the media in a foreign country by such a man as Chavez is an obvious power-grab. But that same writer, when asked about the “fairness” doctrine would view it as a legitimate tool to balance the news. Such is the depth of the illness.

He saw what he wished and needed to see, and thus he replicated the hard, domineering consciousness he condemned.”[40]

Obama was big fan of Malomb X. what’s intesting is the muslim history, and the muslim religion we see today playing a role in his civil rights activities.
some other of his favorite authors
Joseph Conrad: (1902 Heart of Darkness has been considered for most of this century not only as a literary classic, but as a powerful indictment of the evils of imperialism.

Richard Wright 1932 joined the Communist Party and was an executive secretary of the local John Reed Club of leftist writers and authors of Chicago
    Left Communist Party 1945

Malcomb X was “one of the great pioneers of anti-colonialist scholarship”, he was “a headstrong idealist: he idealized Stalinism… He saw what he wished and needed to see, and thus he replicated the hard, domineering consciousness he condemned.”[40]
While in prison, Little earned the nickname of “Satan” for his hostility toward religion. (while in prison brother Reginald got him to convert to muslim)
Malcomb maintained regular correspondence with Nation of Islam Eli Muhammad.

Malcolm X taught that black people were the original people of the world,[59] and that white people were a race of devils who were created by an evil scientist named Yakub.[60] The Nation of Islam believed that black people were superior to white people, and that the demise of the white race was imminent.[61]

In June 1953, Malcolm X was named assistant minister of the Nation of Islam’s Temple Number One[52] in Detroit.[53] By late 1953, he established Boston’s Temple Number Eleven.[54] In March 1954, Malcolm X expanded Temple Number Twelve in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.[55] Two months later he was selected to lead the Nation of Islam’s Temple Number Seven in Harlem.[56] He rapidly expanded its membership.[57] After a 1959 television broadcast in New York City about the Nation of Islam, The Hate That Hate Produced, Malcolm X became known to a much wider audience. Representatives of the print media, radio, and television frequently asked him for comments on issues. He was also sought as a spokesman by reporters from other countries.[58]

Then when Malcomb X mellowed out to join Martin Luther King, the Sunnies, and his Black Panther muslim buddies killed him. I think that’s on the widipedia site.

I believe Wikidpedia claims that along with the Black Panthers and other black muslim groups, Malcomb X mellowed out, and so the extremist muslims killed him.
Also, 3 or 4 times (Obama can’t remember) after moving back to Hawaii after living in Indoneshia 4 or 5 years. (can’t remember) Indonesia was 90 % muslim, and played a huge part of head hunters going after the communists because they weren’t religious. And when Obama got there at 6, everyone had to be registered, as to what religion. One book he says catholic school 2 years then muslim school. Other book he says 1 year catcholic 3 years muslim. Don’t want happened to the 5th year. Today in Indoneisa, the radical muslims are killing the moderate muslims. They are asking the present president to make it a law that they must all be radical. Lot’s of bombings and all. And if you think your confused. But, Obama’s editor is too blame, as she did a lot of the writing of it, not just editing it. And Obama had lived with a muslim and went back several time to visit his muslim friends. 9/11 was shocking, until he flew AF1
over NYC then joked about it like his IT aid Kundra the FBI was looking into.
And his friend in Chicago was muslim. He foung Rev Right, but nothing I could find points to Jesus. Obie uses old testiment passages to describe Christianity as barbaric, and so I do not believe he is a Christian or will ever profess, as he only believes a little bit in God and learned some spiritual majic stuff growing up. He has to keep his head on his soldiers. Good ole Indonesia, the best years he had as a child, That recent picture I found on site, showed light brown young boys dressed modern with their spears standing over a naked pale skinned man they’d run down. coudln’t get his race cause his head was scalped.
And the audicity ollah BHO wants to take his family back to Indonesia inspite of all the muslim suicide bombers to share his memories. And Indonesians hate jews. They are not allowed to live there. No Jews allowd. chop chop.

Sorry, I’m sooo sorry. what was the question?
