Wright: Criticism Is ‘Attack On Black Church’
From his fans at the Associated Press:
Wright says criticism is attack on black church
By NEDRA PICKLER Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON — The Rev. Jeremiah Wright says criticism surrounding his fiery sermons is an attack on the black church.
Barack Obama’s longtime pastor says he hopes the controversy will have a positive outcome and spark an honest dialogue about race in America. Wright says black church traditions are still “invisible” to many Americans, as they have been throughout the country’s history…
He said the black church tradition is not bombastic or controversial, but different and misunderstood by the “dominant culture” in the United States.
Needless to say this isn’t about black churches. It is about Mr. Wright’s red hot hatred of this country, capitalism, and of course, white people.
He and others have been trying to make a religion out of their race-baiting class warfare for a long time.
But it isn’t a religion quite yet.

The criticism surrounding the cover-up of pedophilia and molestation is an attack on the Roman Catholic Church.

Speech is here from the Chi Trib: http://tinyurl.com/63ddpk
Q&A omitted tho. I can’t see how any of this helps Obama at all, tho no doubt the right reverend is having a ball sticking it to the Man.

……”black church tradition is not bombastic or controversial, but different and misunderstood by the “dominant culture”……
The dominant culture being you racist, hypocritical, white bastards out there who don’t have brains enough to really know how to get God’s attention and get Him to answer your prayers, and blah, blah, blah………
Not bombastic?! Not Controversial?! Misunderstood?! If any one were to carry on in my church as Wright and his congregation does, the whole lot of those sons o’ bitches would be hauled off to the loony bin before the final hymn was sung. This narcissistic shit disturber has set the cause of race relations back fifty years. I do believe his goal is fanning the flames of racial unrest to the point of revolution. Someone should take DOCTOR. Wright out and teach him simple math before he contemplates taking on the white man. He’s even more stupid than I first thought, which is some sort of accomplishment. Mark my word, the soon-to-be-retired Wright will emerge as the next generation of Jesse Jacksons, Louis Farrakahns, and Al Sharptons. You won’t be able to read a paper or watch or listen to the news without hearing from or about him–especially if the BO Movement gets elected.

notsoyoungjim, I am starting to think that Wright is deliberately out to ruin Obama’s chances of a Presidential bid, What better way to stir the pot and pass the collection plate?
April 28th, 2008 at 7:00 pm
I too heard that idea put forth over the weekend - maybe it is just an ‘easy’ out when Obama the Movement loses - you know, racist America can’t Do The Right Thing and vote for the black guy (who is biracial-not black, a junior Senator, and the most liberal voter in Congress - no none of these reasons is good enough) it has to be because America is racist.
John, I am afraid you are correct - the (not-so-right) Rev Wright is setting himself up to be the new Sharpton for the second coming of the Civil Rights Movement in America. . .
You know what is scary - when Obama The Movement, really got some momentum going, a disgruntled black man called into Rush to rant about not giving Change, Hope and Believing in the new massiah a chance - and then slid into a racist America rant - to which Rush asked - If Barack is elected President - will that be enough, will that be the point when black America can say we’ve made it - America has become truly a non-racist society? And the guy said No. . .
And that is the only truth I’ve heard in a long time from these ‘angry’ blacks - it will never be enough. And that is the most scary thing I’ve heard - because it will keep the racist, hatefilled, guilt mongering alive forever. . .

Yeah, only this racist uncompassionate country would feed, shelter and pay a whole race of people not to work and have kids for their entire life.

” I too heard that idea put forth over the weekend ‘
I am really not sure you were replying to me, But none the less I must not be the only one thinking along the lines that Wright is happy to sabotage Obama.
Its nothing personal I am sure, Wright will use anyone or anything to line his pockets.
He will not lose a minutes sleep if he ruins a man, or any other thing that adds another million or two to his portfolio.
The sad part is watching the bobble heads in his pews!

He got a long standing ovation at the 8,000 strong NAALCP speech and during the NPC appearence you can hear the off camera “amen corner” of that crowd of liberals who agree with him. It’s disgusting!
I think, as many do, that Wright is sabotaging Obama so when he loses he can say , “see this country is racist just like I told you”. Plus it may be payback for his public denouncement and not allowing Wright to pray at his presidential announcement.
Wright loves all the attention he’s getting and all the money that comes with it plus all the pats on the back he gets off camera from the liberals who agree with every word he says.
Bestseller coming this summer.

Wright is so full of crap! Criticism is not really an attack on the black churches, or cockroaches like him would have been erradicated by now. No, the inability to accept constructive criticism is a sure sign of a petty tyrant, a person who can see the flaws of everyone else, but never his own.
DEZ is correct. It’s all about Wright. The only thing bigger than his mouth is his ego. If he were to be struck by lightning, he’d have died with a smile on his face, thinking somebody was taking his picture.
Heeeyyyyy. Now that’d bring a smile to my face. ;-}

Your right noyz, we all seem to be on the same page here.
Just today I read an opinion that tried to prove that I am a gynophobic racist simply because I do not want Hillary or Obama as C&C.
See if I don’t vote for a black man, I am a f**king racist prick.
If on the other hand I don’t vote for a woman I must be a f**king woman hating prick.
Hmmm, Just how the hell will the left make up their twisted minds, They have to vote for both or they are racist or gynophobic asshats, Oh my, Door number one or door number two, loser either way.
Hey if I don’t vote for McCain does that mean I hate men who are testiculary challenged?
Maybe next time the left can give us a black transgendered lesbian trapped in a mans body.
The fact that we do not trust the people they throw up to be our next president never crosses their minds.
Then again maybe it does, they would be happy to guilt us into selecting an unfit candidate.

” If he were to be struck by lightning, he’d have died with a smile on his face, thinking somebody was taking his picture.’
Would that come in poster size?
Oh and God damn Wright and his church, See how warm and fuzzy that makes me sound, Patriotic too!

One way or the other they are going to try to force a radical lefty on us and they’ll keep trying until they do, no matter how long it takes or how many elections they lose.
Once they get one of these radicals in office they’ll cause such an economic downfall that martial law will have to be imposed, suspend the constitution and then all their Marxist programs and policies can finally be fulfilled. That is the lefts dream of how to take power and they will persue it unless and until we cull their ass out of existence.

Billboard size if you want. Make a helluva dart board, too, dont ya think?
April 28th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
I just counted them up out of my local phone book. There are 18 black churches in and around the area I live in, not one has been attacked.
SG is right. This has nothing to do with black churches or religion at all.
It’s all about the radical liberal racist Wright.

I hadn’t seen the guest list for Wright’s immolation today:
“Speaking before an audience that included Marion Barry, Cornel West, Malik Zulu Shabazz of the New Black Panther Party and Nation of Islam official Jamil Muhammad, Wright praised Louis Farrakhan, defended the view that Zionism is racism, accused the United States of terrorism, repeated his view that the government created the AIDS virus to cause the genocide of racial minorities, stood by other past remarks (”God damn America”) and held himself out as a spokesman for the black church in America.
In front of 30 television cameras, Wright’s audience cheered him on as the minister mocked the media and, at one point, did a little victory dance on the podium. It seemed as if Wright, jokingly offering himself as Obama’s vice president, was actually trying to doom Obama; a member of the head table, American Urban Radio’s April Ryan, confirmed that Wright’s security was provided by bodyguards from Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam.”

“Should it become necessary in the months from now to identify the moment that doomed Obama’s presidential aspirations, attention is likely to focus on the hour between nine and ten this morning at the National Press Club. ”
Word.

SALUTE!

Sounds to me like the ol’ boy done fried a circuit. Later on, when this stuff becomes public, he’ll swear it was taken out of context. I don’t think he realizes that Vaudeville was passe’ long before he hit the scene. Still, he seems to be saying, “Take that, white boy”.

I’ve spent all day rereading my Bible. I cannot find in it references to white churches, and black churches or churches of any kind that are denominated by color. Or, race. Or, special yellow buses. Or, anything like that.
I think this Wright character needs to go back to a real seminary and lay off the Marxist liberation theology before he pi***s off the God in whose name he claims to be speaking.
2 Peter 2 - 1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you:

That gave me a laugh.

I am not really amazed at the comments. In fact, my entire family pulled out of a “sect” because of the same type of comments. I went to a similar church, but when I got old enough, I did change my membership. I out right refuse to be a part of anything that promotes a hate crime. Racism, even just a tiny bit is a hate crime. However, I am a bit ajar as to Wrights catagory. He doesn’t even appear to be one ethinc background, but of a mixed catagory. To hate other races it to hate himself. Look at him, he seems to be a beautiful mixture of a few of God’s creation. He needs to repent and get back to the basics of what a Preacher is to proclaim, “The gospel to convert sinners, to rehabilitate the chemically dependent, to reach out to the broken hearted, battered and abused, those that have been victims of heartache, and of course feeding the hungry.” The book of Isaiah in Chapters 60-62 give an explicit description of why the Spirit of God comes on a person and what they should be inspired to do. I see nothing about being called to “make one race appear to be better than another.” I hate racism and my family has walked away from may churches that mirror the sad message that was portrayed in this viewing.
I have been called a “traitor against my race.” I choose to look at this as a welcomer, or lover of all of God’s creation, which is what a Christian shoud reflect! Unconditional Love………..
That was Jesus’ Message, Ghandi’s message and finally Dr. King’s message of Love for all and non violence. The messages are not only unacceptable to decent people, but also, based on my 30 years of theological following, God does not even agree with Wright’s comments. In fact, Miriam was cursed with leprocy in the old testament when she made fun of Moses wife for being a different nationality. We can learn much from this ancient story. Wright needs to get back to his original calling which is to win the lost and despondent of hope with God’s word and not racial opinions.
It is almost as if he is trying to destroy Senator Obama’s chance to win Presidency by coming foward. Your Pastor should be proud to see you go foward in good endeavors. I remember I was in a situation where there was luded teaching with regard to Graduate and Post Graduate education being “of the devil” IMMEDIATELY, left that situation. I commend Barack for leaving his situation with this pastoral relationship. St. Paul did say to “follow me as I follow Christ” In other words when I begin to do and say contrary to the Bible,
don’t follow me. So I am glad Obama publically denounces the wrong comments made of Wright.
When I eat, “I consume the meat, and throw away the bones.”
I usually dont get involved in these forums but I had to speak up this time.

I, for one, am glad to have your unique perspective and I agree that Wright is a long way from what I know to be pastoral. Bringing shame on and making a fool of himself reflects also back on Christianity in the minds of some and that is surely a sin. There could be some poor soul sitting on the fence as to whether or not to join a church or even just say a prayer and then saw this buffoon on TV and didn’t. I wouldn’t want to be held accountable for that.

“the government created the AIDS virus to cause the genocide of racial minorities”
Just proves we cannot expect the government to do anything right. By that I mean, (I don’t want racial minorities erased), after 25 years we still have racial minorities so why would we expect that the government can do anything for us.
Hint, hint, Obama, Clinton, and McCain: we don’t want, need nor can afford government health insurance.
Pass it on.

““Maybe next time the left can give us a black transgendered lesbian trapped in a man’s body””
That wouldn’t be good enough. The person better wear glasses, walk with a limp or need a wheelchair, be a “single mom” (we used to call single moms sluts) with biracial children enrolled in SCHIP. Hmm, I just thought of Angelina Jolie.
Did I mention tattoos, piercings and drives a Prius.
And lives in a walnut tree house with solar panels. The walnuts are to eat.
Sorry, as usual my mind, what remains, wanders.

Off topic, I know but….
U NO HOO says… “Hint, hint, Obama, Clinton, and McCain: we don’t want, need nor can afford government health insurance.”
Pass it on.
My question has always been this: If the politicians are so worried about the fourty-some million people they claim don’t have health insurance then why don’t they just propose a bill to pay those people’s premiums or put them on medicaid?
Not that I want any of that, but that solution would be a lot less costly than nationalizing the healthcare system and ruining it in the process.
