French “peasants” if they’re not suicidal and don’t want to lose their country must revolt and demand three things:
1. Stop uncontrolled immigration
2. Cut welfare state and specifically stop rewarding high birthrates among immigrants (i.e., “pay per child” system)
3. Get trade unions under control (through like “right to work” provision) and increase competitiveness of the economy

Hey, Mr. French. I think I can sum up the problem facing the French with one Reagan quote.

“The scariest sentance in the English language is “Hi, I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”

Unlike the 19th & early 20th Century American System, which was Welcome to American. GET A JOB!, the French & every other western populist leaning government system created there own “sub class” by keeping them down with subsidies.

Politicians like the current American leadership who are “here to help” are creating their own ruling class through coddling their citizens – not to mention – industry & banking – through scraps from their table.

The longer it goes on, the worse the correction will be. Good Luck!

I actually live in france, unlike most of the readers of this blog. I can tell you, that the suburbs are so seperated from paris, or indeed the rest of french society, that we weren’t even aware a tire got slashed, let alone a car burned.

I think that’s already quite sad. The fact that we can live in parallel worlds. The vast majority of the French are trying to pretend the thugs don’t exist. The thugs want our attention. But society is so racially mixed and integrated , contrary to the US, where ghettos are more or less the property of blacks and somewhat latinos, that there is no way to resolve this issue.

While the french suburb consists of mostly arab and black kids, a typical stroll through downtown paris reveals that the work force is totally integrated. This means that for every arab and black living in a suburb, there is a black and an arab living in a decent middle class neighbourhood. So in the end, the problem appears to be racial – but is it?

This is one of the biggest issues and dilemas of France. Identifying and understanding the problem. While many think racism is indeed the reason for these “protests” others don’t buy that, and state that its a cultural issue – that these arab and black families are those who failed and didn’t make it, and are now perpetually stuck in a low-class culture which keeps them down. Either way, the racial aspect still remains strong, as middle class blacks and arabs don’t do enough, to praise France, and to send a different message about their country, to the country and the world.

In the end, its not something easily discussed in French society. Its exactly the same as talking about racial issues in America.

The reputation of the French today is they are panty-waists, but historically, they have been a fierce people. Clovis, Charlemagne, Medieval Kings, Napolean, DeGaul.

And they are nearly as advanced technology-wise as we are.

A day will come (soon) when there will be a civil war in France.

Kis will be kids. I like how they stacked the cars like wooden pyres / lincoln logs. France does have its hands full with their immigrants. Anyone wonder how many are there illegally and if so, how the French deal with them? Please feel free to loot and burn our cities?
