Investigators Got Obama-Care Subsidies With Fake IDs

From a shameless Associated Press:

Agents get subsidized ‘Obamacare’ using fake IDs

July 23, 2014

WASHINGTON (AP) — Undercover investigators using fake identities were able to secure taxpayer-subsidized health insurance under President Barack Obama’s health care law. The weak link in the system seemed to be call centers that handled applications for thousands of consumers unable to get through online.

This is a blatant lie that is even contradicted later in this article. (When we learn that 11 of the 18 attempts were successful online. Six more were successful, via calling the call centers)

The nonpartisan Government Accountability Office was to tell a House committee on Wednesday that its investigators were able to get subsidized health care under fake names in 11 out of 18 attempts.

HSS Exempts Territories From Obama-Care Mandates

From the Wall Street Journal:

Territories Free of ObamaCare

The White House issues another illegal exemption.

July 21, 2014

Last week’s burst of world disorder was ideal for a news dump, and the White House didn’t disappoint: On no legal basis, all 4.5 million residents of the five U.S. territories were quietly released from ObamaCare…

The original House and Senate bills that became the Affordable Care Act included funding for insurance exchanges in these territories, as President Obama promised when as a Senator he campaigned in Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and other 2008 Democratic primaries. But the $14.5 billion in subsidies for the territories were dumped in 2010 as ballast when Democrats needed to claim the law reduced the deficit.

So, since they were not eligible for mandates, the 4.5 million residents of the territories were also not required to buy insurance via the individual or employer mandate.

Judge’s Pizza Analogy Gets Obama-Care Law Backwards

From the Politico:

Judge interprets Obamacare with pizza order

By JOSH GERSTEIN | July 22, 2014

Could pizza be the key to understanding Congress’s intent in a disputed section of the Obamacare law? One of the judges who ruled on the issue Tuesday seemed to think so…

"If I ask for pizza from Pizza Hut for lunch but clarify that I would be fine with a pizza from Domino’s, and I then specify that I want ham and pepperoni on my pizza from Pizza Hut, my friend who returns from Domino’s with a ham and pepperoni pizza has still complied with a literal construction of my lunch order," Senior 4th Circuit Judge Andre Davis wrote in a concurring opinion…

"That is this case: Congress specified that Exchanges should be established and run by the states, but the contingency provision permits federal officials to act in place of the state when it fails to establish an Exchange.

Remember How Obama Stacked The DC Circuit Court?

From the August 2013 archives of Fox News:

Conservatives accuse Obama of packing key court to ‘rubber stamp’ agenda

By Barnini Chakraborty | August 24, 2013

Forget the debt drama. The real showdown in Washington is over President Obama’s alleged push to stack the bench on a key D.C. court — which Republicans say could be used to "rubber stamp" his agenda long after he leaves office.

At issue is the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, just down the street from its better-known Supreme Court cousin. The court is considered the second-most powerful in the land — right behind the Supreme Court — because it has final say on most federal regulations. Since regulations are drafted and issued in D.C., they end up before the court once they’re challenged…

Lest we forget, at that time the DC Circuit was becoming famous for striking down many of Obama’s regulations.

Ukraine Jets Downed, US Can’t Say Who Downed MH17

From an unfazed Associated Press:

2 Ukrainian military fighter jets shot down

July 23, 2014

KIEV, Ukraine (AP) — Two Ukrainian military fighter jets have been shot down in the east, according to the country’s Defense Ministry. The Sukhoi-25 fighters were shot down 1:30 p.m. local time Wednesday over an area called Savur Mogila. Defense Ministry spokesman Oleksiy Dmitrashkovsky says the planes may have been carrying up to two crew members each.

These fighter jets were shot down about 40 miles from the site of the Malaysian shoot down. And they were almost certainly shot down by the same Russian supplied and probably Russian manned ‘BUK’ (SA-11 ‘Gadfly) surface to air missile battery that shot down the Malaysian airliner. No other weapons could hit fighter jets.

Kanye West: Celebrities Treated Like Blacks In 1960s

From Breitbart:

Kanye West: Celebrities Treated Like Blacks in 1960s

By Christian Toto | July 21, 2014

The most jaw-dropping comments from Kanye West’s just-released interview with GQ Magazine wasn’t that he confirmed giving a 45-minute toast to himself on his wedding day.

West, who lives to poke and provoke pop culture, compared being a celebrity in 2014 to what it felt like for black Americans during the 1960s. The rapper repeated the charge during the magazine Q&A.

And what I talked about in it was the idea of celebrity, and celebrities being treated like blacks were in the Sixties, having no rights, and the fact that people can slander your name,” he said.

Something tells us Mr. West is confused about how blacks were treated in the 1960s.

DC Appeals Court: Most Obama-Care Subsidies Illegal

From CNBC:

Fed appeals court panel says most Obamacare subsidies illegal

By Dan Mangan | July 22, 2014

In a potentially crippling blow to Obamacare, a top federal appeals court Tuesday said that billions of dollars worth of government subsidies that helped nearly 5 million people buy insurance on are illegal.

A judicial panel in a 2-1 ruling said such subsidies can be granted only to those people who bought insurance in an Obamacare exchange run by an individual state or the District of Columbia — not on the federally run exchange…

The Obama Administration is certain to seek a reversal of the decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, which does not immediately have the effect of law.

Halper: Clintons Pushed GE To Get Rid Of David Shuster

From the Politico:

Halper book: Clintons lobbied GE to get rid of MSNBC’s David Shuster

By HADAS GOLD | July 21, 2014

Hillary and Bill Clinton went to the top of the NBC food chain, all the way up to General Electric’s board, to get back at MSNBC’s David Shuster in 2008, according to Daniel Halper’s forthcoming book “Clinton Inc.”

We’re supposed to be surprised by this? The Clinton’s don’t deal with underlings. Especially, when they are talking about their personal PR machine, NBC.

Halper, the online editor at the conservative Weekly Standard, details how far the Clinton camp went to get back at Shuster for saying that Chelsea Clinton was "sort of being pimped out in some weird sort of way” for lobbying super delegates on her mother’s behalf during the presidential primaries.

Detroit Retirees Vote For 4.5% Pension Cut In Landslide

From a gobsmacked Associated Press:

Detroit retirees vote in favor of pension cuts

By Ed White | July 21, 2014

DETROIT (AP) — Workers and retirees approved pension cuts in Detroit’s bankruptcy by a landslide, the city reported Monday, a crucial step to emerging from the largest municipal insolvency in U.S. history.

The city disclosed results from two months of balloting, which ended July 11…

Two months of balloting? That’s what the Democrats want for every election.

General retirees would get a 4.5 percent pension cut and lose annual inflation adjustments. They accepted the changes with 73 percent of ballots in favor. Retired police officers and firefighters would lose only a portion of their annual cost-of-living raise. Eighty-two percent in that class voted "yes." …

4.5% less of something is better than getting 100% of nothing.

Detroit Water Cut-Off Racist, Gets Suspended 15 Days

First we have this, from the CBS Detroit affiliate, WWJ:

NAACP Legal Defense Fund: Detroit Water Service Shutoffs Were Racially Motivated

July 21, 2014

DETROIT (WWJ) – After a class action lawsuit filed against the city of Detroit, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund says that recent water shutoffs to Detroit residents were racially motivated.

Veronica Joice with the NAACP Legal Defense Fund says, “That (the shutoffs are) being done in a discriminatory fashion; and they should at least take a look at whether there’s a better way to do this that doesn’t affect the most vulnerable citizens — the majority of whom are African American here in Detroit.”

Attorney Alice Jennings, who filed the lawsuit on behalf of Detroit residents, said it’s a known fact that there are corporations that owe hundreds of thousands of dollars to the city of Detroit Water and Sewerage Department.

IRS Reports More Computer Crashes, Email Could Exist

From the Daily Caller:

Now IRS Reports EVEN MORE Computer Crashes, Doesn’t Know If Emails Still Exist

By Patrick Howley | July 21, 2014

IRS Deputy Associate Chief Counsel Thomas Kane said in transcribed congressional testimony that more IRS officials experienced computer crashes, bringing the total number of crash victims to “less than 20,” and also said that the agency does not know if the lost emails are still backed up somewhere.

What are the odds that 20 or so of Lois Lerner’s email correspondents would be the victims of catastrophic computer crashes? And that none of their emails would have been backed up anywhere? (Hint: zero.)

It seems like only the other day that Obama said about the ‘rebels’ destruction of the evidence from the Malaysian air shoot-down: "What have they got to hide?" — Well, that those ‘separatists’ have got nothing on the IRS.

Obama Gives LGBT Protections — Law Already Provides

It hasn’t been all golf and gala luncheons for Obama. He has managed to throw yet another symbolic sop to some of his major donors and bundlers.

From a cheering Associated Press:

Obama gives protection to gay, transgender workers

By NEDRA PICKLER | July 21, 2014

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama on Monday gave employment protection to gay and transgender workers in the federal government and its contracting agencies, after being convinced by advocates of what he called the "irrefutable rightness of your cause."

"America’s federal contracts should not subsidize discrimination against the American people," Obama said at a signing ceremony from the White House East Room. He said it is unacceptable that being gay is still a firing offense in most places in the United States…

Of course, nobody can ever cite an example of anyone being fired because of being a homosexual.

Obama Starts Three Day Trip, Including Six Fundraisers

From an unfazed Associated Press:

Obama heads off to raise money on the West Coast

July 22, 2014

WASHINGTON (AP) — Amid a swirl of foreign and border challenges, President Barack Obama is embarking on the one mission that has regularly proved a winner for him — raising money for his fellow Democrats.

Actually, until he was safely re-elected Obama was notorious for not raising money for his fellow Democrats. He only raised money for himself.

Obama on Tuesday was starting a three-day West Coast trip, scheduled to attend at least five fundraising events in Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles less than four months ahead of midterm elections that could change Washington’s balance of power.

The AP later cites Mark Knoller as the expert on Obama’s fundraising trips.

Obama Loves ‘Constructive’ Critics, But Ignores ‘Haters’

From Breitbart:

Obama Dismisses ‘Haters’

By Charlie Spiering | July 21, 2014

During a town hall with young people, President Obama explained how he deals with people who criticize him.

“I just don’t watch TV,” Obama joked, after he was asked about his critics during a town hall promoting the White House "My Brother’s Keeper" initiative.

We know Obama must be joking. Because previously he and his spokesflacks have told us he has only learned about his various scandals and policy failures by seeing them reported on TV.

Obama advised young people to listen to critics who actually had their interests at heart.

“Who gives you constructive criticism because they’re invested in the same things you are but maybe can see the things you can’t, versus folks who are just — what’d someone say — hatin’?

$3.67B Of $3.7B Border Request Won’t Be Spent In 2014

From an unfazed Associated Press:

CBO: $25M of $3.7B border ask to be spent in 2014

By ANDREW TAYLOR | July 21, 2014

WASHINGTON (AP) — Just $25 million of President Barack Obama’s $3.7 billion request to deal with a wave of unaccompanied Central American children on the southern border might be spent before the budget year ends Sept. 30, a new study released Monday says.

The Congressional Budget Office analysis assumes Obama’s request for handling the border crisis won’t be enacted until mid- to late-September…

That would still put this money into the hands of Democrat operatives before the midterm elections. Which is the real urgency here.

The study says the $25 million would be spent immediately by the Department of health and Human services to help the agency pay costs associated with the care of unaccompanied immigrant children and placing them with family members or other caretakers.
