Obama Used To Say He Couldn’t Do Amnesty By Himself

From one of Obama’s first responders at the Politico:

Obama’s immigration flip flop

By CARRIE BUDOFF BROWN | July 25, 2014

President Barack Obama insisted for years that he had absolutely no legal authority — none whatsoever, zero, zilch — to slow deportations on a broad scale.

Forget everything he’s said…

As usual with Obama, words mean nothing. As with most socialists, Obama only sees words as tools to power and nothing else. But don’t worry, the Politico is going to explain why that isn’t a problem here.

Obama’s pledge to use his executive powers by the end of the summer marked both a dramatic reversal in rhetoric and a major strategic shift on immigration… In other words, Obama has signaled that he intends to do exactly what he’s long said he’s unable to do…

And to think Obama pretends to be a Constitutional scholar.

LAT: Obama Will Give Amnesty To (At Least) 5M Illegals

From the Los Angeles Times:

White House pursuing plan to expand immigrant rights

By Christi Parsons, Brian Bennett, Lisa Mascaro | July 25, 2014

Even as President Obama grapples with the crisis of immigrant children arriving at the Southwest border,

Huh? Obama isn’t grappling with anything except golf clubs and fat cat donors. He is ignoring the ‘crisis’ on the border, expect to try to make it worse.

White House officials are laying the groundwork for a large-scale expansion of immigrant rights that would come by executive action within weeks.

Yes, an executive order giving millions more illegal aliens amnesty will stem the illegal alien flood across the border for sure. But why would Obama want it stemmed?

Officials signaled strongly Friday that Obama’s move would shield from deportation large numbers of immigrants living in the country illegally, as advocacy groups have demanded.

France Offers Asylum To Iraq Christians, Where’s The US?

From Reuters:

France offers asylum to Mosul’s Christians

July 28, 2014

PARIS (Reuters) – France said on Monday it was ready to welcome Christians from northern Iraq who have been told by the al Qaeda offshoot group now ruling the region to either covert to Islam, pay a religious levy or face death.

Islamic State insurgents seized large swathes of northern Iraq last month, prompting hundreds of Christian families in Mosul to flee a city which has hosted the faith since its earliest years.

"We are providing aid to displaced people fleeing from the threats of Islamic Sate and who have sought refuge in Kurdistan. We are ready, if they wish, to facilitate their asylum on our soil," France’s foreign and interior ministers said in a joint statement.

Obama Frets About Gaza Victims, Not Christian Genocide

From an unquestioning Associated Press:

Obama: US worried about worsening Gaza conditions

July 27, 2014

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is telling Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the United States is growing more concerned about the rising number of civilian deaths in the Gaza war that is entering its third week.

The White House says Obama and Netanyahu spoke Sunday about the ongoing violence in the region and the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza.

But only the ‘humanitarian situation’ in Gaza. Israeli casualties don’t count. And never mind that Hamas is doing everything it can to increase its civilian casualties.

Obama also reiterated that Israel has a right to defend itself and condemned Hamas’ rocket attacks.

How big of him.

Obama says a lasting peace will ultimately require a demilitarized Gaza and dismantling of terror groups…

The only time Gaza has been peaceful has been when it has been heavily militarized by the Israelis.

Russian Nationals Take Over Top Separatists’ Leadership

From Reuters:

Pushing locals aside, Russians take top rebel posts in east Ukraine

By Gabriela Baczynska and Aleksandar Vasovic | July 27, 2014

KIEV/DONETSK Ukraine (Reuters) – As Ukrainian troops gained ground in eastern Ukraine in early July, separatist leader Aleksander Borodai, a Russian national, left for Moscow for political consultations.

After what he described as successful talks with unnamed people there, he returned to the rebel stronghold of Donetsk to introduce a new senior figure in his self-proclaimed republic, a compatriot seasoned in the pro-Russian separatist movement in Moldova and a war between Russia and Georgia.

Moldova, Georgia, Crimea, Ukraine… It’s almost like there is a pattern developing.

Vladimir Antyufeyev was named "deputy prime minister" by Borodai on July 10, one of several native Russians to have taken charge of the separatist rebellion in Ukraine’s eastern regions.

US Evacuates Its Embassy In Libya (Losing Obama’s War)

From an unfazed Associated Press:

U.S. evacuates embassy in Libya amid clashes

By ASSOCIATED PRESS | July 26, 2014

WASHINGTON — The United States shuttered its embassy in Libya on Saturday and evacuated its diplomats to neighboring Tunisia under U.S. military escort as fighting intensified between rival militias. Secretary of State John Kerry said "free-wheeling militia violence" prompted the move.

Lest we forget, Libya was Obama’s war and his alone. (If you don’t count the ‘War Hens,’ Valerie Jarrett, Hillary Clinton and Samantha Power.) He didn’t even consult with Congress, much less get their permission. He helped to overthrew an anti-terrorist American ally in his eagerness to Libya to the Muslim terrorists.

American personnel at the Tripoli embassy, which had already been operating with limited staffing, left the capital around dawn and traveled by road to neighboring Tunisia, with U.S.

Records Showing Antarctic Ice Growth Must Be All Wrong

From an unfazed Los Angeles Times:

Study casts doubt on rate of Antarctic sea ice growth

By Julia Rosen | July 24, 2014

A new study suggests that scientists must reexamine records that show increases in Antarctic sea ice since 1979. Researchers found that something changed in the way satellite data get converted into ice cover, but they can’t yet identify the exact nature of the change, or whether it fixed a problem or introduced one.

In other words, since all the data shows that the ice in Antarctica is actually growing rather than receding as is should we global warming, the ‘scientists’ have decided the data must be wrong. Even though they can’t say why or where it is wrong.

Isn’t science fun?

They can say that their results show either Antarctic sea ice has not expanded as much as previously reported or it has been gaining ground for longer than scientists realized.

NYT: It’s Not Obama’s Fault, Presidents Have Little Power

From a shameless New York Times:

Obama and the Myth of Presidential Control

By Brendan Nyhan | JULY 24, 2014

One of the most common criticisms of presidents — especially struggling ones during their second term — is that they have lost control of events. This charge, which has been leveled at chief executives such as Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush, has become a mantra lately in coverage of President Obama, who faces a stalled legislative agenda and crises in Ukraine, Gaza and at the border with Mexico.

When did anyone ever say that President Reagan lost control of events? Or even President Bush? They certainly never escaped any blame that way. (But that didn’t stop the NYT from posting a series of photographs of President Reagan with this article.)

What happened?

Gruber: States Without Exchanges Will Get No Subsidies

From Breitbart:

Obamacare Architect: States Without Exchanges Get No Subsidies

by John Sexton | July 24, 2014

Jonathan Gruber, a "key architect" of  Obamacare was caught on tape in 2012 saying states which do not set up an Obamacare exchange are not eligible for subsidies. His admission mirrors the arguments of plaintiffs in the Halbig case and has the potential to push Obamacare to the brink of collapse…

Supporters of the law have argued that the bill was poorly drafted. They claim the apparent limitation of federal subsidies to state-based exchanges was merely a legislative typo. And since it was a typo, they argue, courts should look to the intent of the lawmakers…

[In] a 2012 video of Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber stating unequivocally that subsidies are not available in states which do not set up their own exchanges:

Q: The health information exchanges for the states and it’s my understanding that if states don’t provide them that the federal government will provide them.

House RINOs Fear Backlash For Not Giving Obama $3.7B

From The Hill:

House Republicans fear backlash from punting border bill to the fall

By Peter Schroeder and Cristina Marcos | July 24, 2014

House Republicans are growing anxious about leaving town for the August recess without passing a border bill. Ahead of a pivotal conference meeting Friday morning, rank-and-file lawmakers are openly fretting about the questions they would face from constituents if they break from legislative work without taking action to address the surge of child migrants into the United States.

This is pretty hilarious. Especially coming as it does from the same media outlet that told us back on July 12th: ‘Immigration reform fizzles as campaign issue for Democrats.’

But now we are supposed to believe the House Republicans will suffer if they don’t give Obama a $4 billion dollar slush fund which will line the pocket of pro-amnesty lawyers and judges and other Democrat operatives.

NYT Is Outraged: TX National Guard Could Make Arrests

From a white-knuckled New York Times:

National Guard in Texas Could Get Arrest Power

By MANNY FERNANDEZ | JULY 24, 2014

HOUSTON — When Gov. Rick Perry of Texas announced plans to deploy 1,000 National Guard troops to help with the border crisis, it came with a power unexpected by some. By deploying them himself rather than through Washington, he has the power to order the troops to make arrests and apprehensions, something Guard troops in past border deployments have been prohibited from doing.

The NYT and the rest of our media need to pick a story and stick to it. They had previously objected to putting the National Guard on the border because ‘that would just be symbolic.’ Since, they said, the Nation Guard wouldn’t have the power to arrest or deport anyone.

Obama Planning To Give Refugee Status To Illegal Aliens

From a cheering New York Times:

U.S. Considering Refugee Status for Hondurans

By FRANCES ROBLES and MICHAEL D. SHEAR | July 24, 2014

Hoping to stem the recent surge of migrants at the Southwest border, the Obama administration is considering whether to allow hundreds of minors and young adults from Honduras into the United States without making the dangerous trek through Mexico, according to a draft of the proposal.

How would this ‘stem’ anything? In fact, it will just increase the flow if we start cutting out the middle men coyotes and providing free air transportation to the good old US of A.

If approved, the plan would direct the government to screen thousands of children and youths in Honduras to see if they can enter the United States as refugees or on emergency humanitarian grounds…

Which means turning the concept of ‘refugee’ on its head.

DHS Chief Confirms WH Knew Of Border Crisis In January

From the Washington Free Beacon:

DHS Anticipated 60,000 Illegal Child Border Crossers in January

DHS secretary confirms administration anticipated surge in illegal immigration

By Bill Gertz | July 24, 2014

ASPEN, Colo. — DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson confirmed Thursday that the Obama administration in January anticipated a surge of some 60,000 illegal children crossing the Southwest Border.

The hell you say. Well, then why on earth didn’t Obama do something to stop the flood? (This is a rhetorical question.) By the way, where was the news media? (That is another rhetorical question.)

So far, only two cases among the flood of illegal immigrants this year raised concerns that terrorists were entering the United States, Johnson said during remarks to a security conference.

"Only two" terrorists may have entered the US this year?
